LOL, yes, it's one of the worst DT rotations right now in the NFL (I'd say easily in the bottom 10).

All these guys would be backups, at best, on a significant number of NFL rosters. Shoot, we are a distant fourth in our own division with Washington, Giants and Philly all having better DTs (even Philly after losing Hargrave is better).
Well, according by to some around here, there are still several impact DTs out there for the taking, so we are good….

Dont go asking asking exactly WHO and/or how that’s gonna happen.

Spoiler: the answer is day two of the draft, and by week five we are hoping that player becomes something by 2024.

I would seriously consider DT Gervon Dexter Sr at the #26 pick. For sure the late 2nd but I doubt he lasts that long. Great against the run. Nonstop motor. Big boy. Strong. Can drive Olineman back into the QB on pass rush.

He’s probably out of the price range, and not a DT, but I’m throwing a feeler out to Frank Clark just for fun.
Clark has had 6, 4.5, and 5 sacks the last 3 years playing next to Chris Jones while getting to pin his ears and just rush because Mahommes has put up enough points to take away the opposition’s running attack. He’s not anywhere close to being worth baby sitting his bipolar issues at this stage! Bring back Fowler or for a little more Yannick Ngakoue!

It's interesting, albeit frustrating, that they seemingly ignore the position. I would at very least like to see them bring Hankins back. Then hopefully target the position in the draft at some point.

Those are the DTs on your roster right now. Throw in Golston if you want. It doesn't change anything.

That's one of the worst DT rotations in the NFL. That's not even debatable at this point. I am going to beat the ever living pulp out of this dead horse over and over. What in god's name are they thinking at DT at this point?

No, bringing back Hankins and Watkins doesn't change much.
Can't disagree although if we believe the experts, this is an extremely weak DT class with really only one guy in Carter worthy of a day 1 or day 2 pick. Maybe we sign Poona Ford or A'Shawn Robinson but both just remind me of stop gap guys. Although either would be an improvement unless Bohanna takes a huge step forward.

realists....
Realist?

The "realist" are the fans that understand how this organization has operated in past FAs and drafts with regards to DT. They lowball DT each and every year.

Yet every year you guys think it will be different. Hope you are right but I doubt it. We'll likely get some cheap as hell FA DTs, maybe throw a mid round pick or two at one, and you guys will then pretend like the problem is solved. To then have us all back here in March 2024 saying hey guys, it's early in FA for DTs!

As far as I can tell Derrick Nnadi is still available. He’s not as big a name but he’s above solid vs the run and shouldn’t take some massive and scary contract, and is dependable staying on the field!

You should pay more attention to who you're responding to.

Saying that to Sydla is like telling Bob Hayes that he's not fast.

Bring something better to the convo than rude little 3rd grade jabs.
Let's go through this since bayeslife needs convincing (with some names, some team have multiple really good DTs):

NFCE - Philly, Giants and Skins are all better DT rotations
NFCS - Bucs (Vae, for example), Carolina (Williams), Falcons (Jarrett), Saints (Onyemata)
NFCN - Packers (Clark), Bears (Pennel), Lions (Brockers)
NFCW - Rams (Donald), 49ers (Hargrave)

AFCE - Jets (Williams), Bills (Oliver), Dolphins (Wilkins), Pats (Barmore)
AFCN - Steelers (Heyward), Browns (Tomlinson), Bengals (Reader)
AFCS - Tennessee (Simmons), Colts (Buckner)
AFCW - Chiefs (Jones)

So yea, our DT rotation is bottom 10, at least.

Lol it’s not one of the worst, that’s just a lazy way of saying you don’t know any other nfl rosters
How many teams in the nfl off the top of your head would Osa be the best DT on? 5? Fewer? How many would he even start on? 10?There are 6-8 better DT’s in the NFCE alone. Fewer yet that Gallimore or Bohanna would start for.

To say it’s one of the NFL’s most neglected iDL’s isn’t an overstatement, it’s one of the NFL’s most neglected groups overall in recent history. No 1st rounders in a quarter century at DT, only team in the nfl not to do that. Last major FA acquisition was La’Roi Glover 20 years ago. He’s probably still the highest paid DT in cowboys history(maybe Jay Ratliff, which was still 15 years ago). At this point it’s not just neglect, it’s methodical. Jerry doesn’t believe in the position being an asset to nfl success.

That's what I've been saying for the last twenty years that Dallas should be drafting a monster 1 tech DT but anyone that listens to these clowns in this organization that they prefer "VERSATILITY" on the defensive line(that's the reality), but we are one week into free agency this year and thus far the front office has done a good job when they've gone from their norm of doing little to nothing and made a couple of very good value trades for two starters(offense and defense).... but there's still some work to do no doubt but I don't see the rush going out and overpaying players which usually happens in week one(see Washingtons Commanders DT signing).

So, lets all take a wait and see what happens!!
