We didn't lose because of our Dt's
We don't win because of them either.

A real GM is constantly trying to address weaknesses. They don't waste time trying to prove their ridiculous "everyone needs to have 3Tech-type abilities" take was correct.

LOL, he still had 59 tackles in 2021 on a bad Falcons defense. And came back and played well again in 2022.

Again, Jarrett is still a quality DT, much better than anything we have.
And there defense was good this year? He wasn’t any better after his 2nd year of development than what OSA is now!

OK, just stop.

Jarrett is better than Osa. Not that Osa is bad or anything.

I don't know how true it is but I feel like DT is a position that is heavily influenced by where a player is in their career. It is such a high effort / physically demanding position for guys with incredible size. Guys on contract years seem to outperform even more relative to other positions and guys who get massive deals seem to drop off even more. Of course there are always exceptions and if you can identify the exceptions then great but I would say be very careful how you spend money at this position. Sign as many guys as you can for reasonable deals who have at some point in the past shown that they are capable then cross your fingers. Nothing seems to turn rotten as fast as a massive DT contract.

There development and production was very similar in there first two seasons. Typically it takes mid round 3techs until there 3rd year to come into there on. OSA so far, development has been similar to several others including Jarrett. Think we’ll have a much better understanding of what we have after this season… the coaches seem to have a much higher opinion than most of the fan base!

Osa has too many tweener traits to be "that guy". It's not about development, it's about getting starter quality types ahead of him so he can be the excellent rotational type that he's destined to be.

According to David Moore - I can't link the tweet, we are trying to resign Hawkins and Fowler.
Not exciting, but Hankins definitely helped last year, and Fowler was solid edge depth.

Plus why waste another season to see "what we have" in Osa and DT overall? Why not try to add some better DTs around the kid?

No doubt they want Hankins back and I can get behind that. But they need more. And no, Carlos Watkins isn't "more".

Maybe they'll surprise and use a premium pick on a DT.

Those are the DTs on your roster right now. Throw in Golston if you want. It doesn't change anything.

That's one of the worst DT rotations in the NFL. That's not even debatable at this point. I am going to beat the ever living pulp out of this dead horse over and over. What in god's name are they thinking at DT at this point?

No, bringing back Hankins and Watkins doesn't change much.
They will get a defensive tackle from somewhere. I think there is a good chance that they draft one and sign one.

Great DT can change a game.

You guys can keep thinking our DT play is fine. It's not.

And we did lose some games where DT play was suspect. That first Philly game, which could have tightened the divisional race was winnable and we had momentum and then Philly road graded our DTs into the turf in the 4th Q. We are not good enough at DT and it absolutely could derail a great season in 2023.
What if they draft one and he turns out to be great?

Resign Hankins
Sign Derrick Nandi
Draft a 3 tech in the top 3 rounds.

That’s minimal cost and at least brings our DT position to average

So what your really saying without saying it, is revamp the whole DL.?
This Year..

In the real world your totally unrealistic and not even worthy of a discussion.
So this has to go down as one of the worst POST in Modern Day History

The odds they draft one in this draft isn't exactly high.

And no, throwing a 4th round pick at a DT isn't a highly successful way of addressing the DT issues.

Well first, it's "you're" not "your".

Two, who said revamp the whole DL? DEs are fine. Bring back Hankins. Sign Robinson. Draft a DT.

It ain't that hard to change the DT room up with a couple of moves.
