Love this quote from our rook --

“I’ve got to stay ahead [of the defense] regardless, no matter what number of games this is in my season or in my career,” Prescott said. “That’s what’s gotten me to this level: It’s preparing, watching the defenses, and that’s what I’ll continue to do.”

His preparation is second to none (according the coaching staff and Jerruh), so as defenses adapt and prepare for Dak, our phenom is doing the same. He has ice water in his veins :)

Trouty. You will not agree..but Prescott is a better technical and fundamentals QB than Romo...NOW. He reads the defenses much faster and makes better decisions. He only lacks NFL experience.

He may make better decisions, so I don't disagree with you there, but you were kinda right (about my disagreeing with you :)) , as I don't think he's there, yet, at reading defenses faster. He's missed a few guys that Romo would have surely hit (namely on the deeper routes -- maybe that's reading the field, as opposed to defenses?).

He's getting there, Haley, and I think his ceiling is sky high. As 31 said above you, I heart Dak :)

Absolutely correct, don't forget, it took over three seasons before Romo was ever trusted to throw his first regular season pass.

However, the greatest, most critical difference will be shown in January.

Tony Romo's achilles heal is revealed in the most important play of the season, the one that absolutely has to be made by Romo, the play that determines if there is another game to play.

He has never made that play. Dak will make that play which is why he must continue to start.

He made it in 2014 in GB (played a fanstastic game, but I digress), but the refs stole "the play that determines if there is another game to play." Respectfully, plasticman.

I think Romo's biggest issue (when he came back last year) was that his mind and heart told him he could still play like he did 4 or 5 years ago, but his body did not let him. Can he change his style of play when/if he comes back? Dak has shown great deal of patience and plays within himself and the offense. He has not pressed to make the big play, therefore, has avoided the big mistake.

Love that play clock not going down to 1 second every time as when it does with Tony.

Trouty. That play to Bryant should never been called. The Cowboys needed a first down only..better to pass it to Witten or a slot reciever...Let Murray run. Get closer...kill more clock.Tony made tbe worst possible call...no doubt changed it at the line. If Bryant scores, which he didn't...there was almost 5 minutes left in the game and the ball back in Rodgers hands. This is the bad judgement that people have always blamed Romo for. The worst call at the worst time. That throw to Bryant was unexplainable. That type of call will be Tony Romo's legacy.

You do realize this will not go over well on this board right?

I don't disagree, Haley. I was confounded that we went with such a high risk play in such an important game, on a pivotal down... but it was a catch!!! :) and an amazing throw.

Still, I can't disagree if I'm being fully objective, my brudda.

Why not? Haley is the man and offers an amazing counterpoint.

And most of us love Dak.

Can fans not discuss our QBs without it "not going well" ie being objective and realizing both of their strengths?

Actually, you're right.

Some fans are incapable of such a conversation, so you have a point, but for a different reason than you alluded to (I assume).

I really don't think it matters how much the "book" on Dak grows, because I feel he's gonna just keep adding to it. And it's not like there hasn't been plenty of scouting on him from previous weeks, and he just keeps getting better anyway.

The author touches on the real question, which is can the QB improve on his primary weak points. All rookie QBs have them and eventually they are found out,,, some QBs just can't get better in those areas and they fall off like Kaepernick and Foles and RGIII.

The difference is he isn't playing in a gimmicky offense unlike those 3 you mentioned above. Linehan and Garrett have him operating from the pocket running a "traditional" passing offense, steadily adding more snaps from under center. Obviously we don't know for sure but Dak's weaknesses appear to be those that should improve greatly with experience, reps and familiarity within a system.
