I don't think we will be getting RW. I would love for that to happen but all signs point to someone else. I'm not sure who it will be but it seems pretty clear that we are gearing up to do some wheeling and dealing.

Jerry isn't stupid. Glenn will be back, Romo and him both have chemestry to a point.

Now on the other side look how many DB's we kept. I think Jerry will package a deal to Detroit with the DB's, maybe a LB (Carpenter) and a pick(s).

Come one, Detroit couldn't be that stupid, could they? Roy will be gone next year. He is a #1 type receiver not liking it there, wanting to be in Texas.

Your thoughts?

Which is EXACTLY why he's not going ot make a desperation move like this.

Book it. You will be wrong about pretty much everything you predicted.

Detroit can always tag Williams.

Thats still a ton to pay 2 recievers when they suck just about everywhere else.

If I were playing Madden Id offer Scandrick, Hurd, Carpenter and a 1st. Id make a similar offer for Boldin.

But now that the season is a week away, its almost impossible.

Can't rule out TG coming back but I don't see that happening until after week one whenever that date is to not pay a vested vet his full salary. That's a big if.

Det will not send us RW without getting a lot in return. They will franchise him if they don't do another deal. All they need to do is throw some bonus money at him along with some guaranteed money for a couple of years and that's over and he's happy. Probably.

They sure can, but they won't.

Matt, Terry Glenn is done. I would love to have Roy Williams here but I just don't see it happening this season, maybe in the offseason. A more likely scenario is to pick up Rector and keep him around till Hurd and Austin get healthy and then release him or just let him slide down the depth chart.

I've heard and read a lot from the Saint fans about a trade for Henderson for Carpenter. I'm not real keen on that idea(I've seen him drop to many and some aligator arm it over the middle). I would rather they throw a late round pick for Copper and keep him for his special teams skills while providing some depth in the slot.

Why is that, Hos?
The signing bonus they paid to Calvin Johnson is simply too big to have that much money tied up at one position. They could do it, but it means blue light specials everywhere else. They are switching to a run oriented offense. Why tie up that much money at WR?

Hos you are using logic; if it was almost any other GM you might be right, but Millen scoffs at, laughs at, and urinates on logic. I think it all depends on the kind of year Detroit has if it is a good one then they will renegotiate with him if they tank it this year I bet they just let him go, unless he has insane numbers.

So obviously we wouldn't cut this many WR's and go into the season like this. Hurd will be gone for a while, Austin maybe longer than 2 weeks depending on his recovery, and Stanback is back week 1!!!! Great we now have an unproven receiver ready to go for week 1 transferring from QB in College to a must need position for us.

Jerry isn't stupid. Glenn will be back, Romo and him both have chemestry to a point.

What is chemestry and when did Aaron Glenn and Tony Romo have it to a point?

I know a lot of people on this site were hoping to land Roy Williams but that doesnt seem too likely imo. Why not try and pick up Shaun McDonald or Mike Furrey? I know neither is the stud WR most want opposite TO but Im not 100 percent convinced we need to have 2 top tier WRs to have a great offense. Furrey and McDonald both have been productive the last few seasons and would be nice compliments to Crayton. Detroit needs help in the secondary and we clearly have extra guys on the roster right now.

What would you think of landing either of these 2 and what do you think it would take to make it happen?

I like Furrey, I had a post about him before. But.... look what Dallas did at WR, sounds like a trade is in the works for more than a slot guy.

Around 10 million I would guess it is the average of the top 5 WRs in the league.

I was thinking 5+. I was way off. No they won't do that but they do have a lot of time to sit down with him and make a deal. They also have time to think about life after RW. Guess it might be a lot more difficult than I thought.

The average of the 5 highest paid WRs in the NFL.

That means Calvin Johnson, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Javon Walker and Marvin Harrison kind of money. 10 large per year at least.

No way they do that.

I need to look at salaries again. Dang I went into the wrong business. My mother told me to be a Rock Star or top five WR but I wouldn't listen. I understand now. I'm slow.

Which is still a bargain compared to $20+ million in bonuses paid to all those 1st round failure WRs Millen has drafted and released since he became Detroit's GM.
