Burress was the ONLY effective weapon in the passing game, I kept waiting and waiting for the Skins to start doubling him..

Just for comparison....

Eli w/o Burress:

40.9 Completion %
3.77 YPA
1 int.
0.00 TD %
32.95 Passer Rating

Giants looked pretty good in the first half. Commanders could have had 4 or 5 int's had they held onto the ball.

Eli was average. His stats:

61.13 Passer Rating
No Touchdowns
54% Completion
1 INT
216 Yards

Plax had an outstanding game. Jacobs had a great game also.

Yeah about the way I saw it. The Giants are much better on both lines though and that's something that will shine through all season long. Line play is hard to cover up with smoke and mirrors.

no sir not impressed at all. the first drive off the game by the giants were flawless...i kinda freaked out when i saw how easily the giants scored but everything after that drive was laughable. the way eli freaked out whenever he had to roll out the pocket. I hope they blitz us that much Tony is great at passing on the run and if you give T.O. man to man one on one due to blitzing then we all kknow Ownes is coming down with it 9 times out of ten

Two bad teams out there last night, or at least two bad performances.

Eli was Eli. If the Skins could catch he'd have thrown 4 opening game picks. Same inaccuracy, bad decisions, and streakiness as always. So that was encouraging.

Terrible games by Cooley and Landry. Cooley basically just waved his bull-flag anytime he got matched up on a defensive end and let them right through, and Landry had as bad a night as I've seen a safety have. Got son'ed by Jacobs early, juked out of his mind by Jacobs later, beat on a deep out by Burress (fortunately Eli's the QB, so it didn't matter), and was generally a non-factor aside from a pass breakup that should have been an easy pick.

Do the Skins to hands drills for the DBs at all, ever? :)

I dunno, Giants looked good to me. They pretty much closed out the game midway through the first quarter. Their OL is one of the most underrated units in the NFL. Eli and Plaxico were pretty much playing pitch and catch by themselves out there. Jacobs averages about 6 yards per pop. Justin Tuck is still a man beast. The defense gave up 200 total yards on the night. Pretty much a complete and thorough butt kicking. I hope we look that horrible on Sunday.

One thing though .. the next time Gilbride calls for Eli to bootleg or rollout, Coughlin should summon the spirit of Buddy Ryan and walk over and pop him right in the mouth. Eli throwing from the pocket = much improved. Eli throwing on the move = trainwreck.

Commanders are a team that just needs to get better through the season.

They aren't as good as their fans made them out to be. They are idiots.

I just wish I could find the player rankings thread that was posted the other day and give it a good bump.

Washington better just try to learn as much as possible this season about their system and shoot for 7-9.

I agree. They're rebuilding. Anyone with half a brain should have been able to see it. Luckily their management doesn't have half a brain and just used a high draft pick to bring in a 35 year old defensive end who just spent the entire offseason doing the cha-cha in sequins and spandex instead of focusing on football. And it showed tonight. I'm officially changing his name to Jason McKenzie, because he should be Kareem McKenzie's legal wife after what he had done to him tonight.

OK.

1) I need to see the Giants play a team with a good D line. They did not tonight- so all that huffing and puffing about their O line means ZIP.

2) ditto for playing a team with a real good O line- or at least one that plays better then the skins did tonight. One great thing about the Giants last year was that they had 4 real pass rush threats. Now they are down to 2; in the fourth qtr they are going to get tired if they have to do it all game long.

3) Eli was 19 of 35 and had at least 3 picks dropped. Tell me how that was different then how he played at the beginning of last season? If anything he was worse then the beginning of last season.

4) Jacobs was a bull and he and Plex are the reasons the Giants won that game- without them it would have gone to OT and lasted forever. BUT lets see jacobs keep up the consistency- Plex as well. They never have before.

SKINS:

Campbell - all those different systems have finally frozen him to total paralysis. The next great Skins QB? SURE.

SKins O line: stank it up; question is was it just a bad game or is this the way they are - did not think the Giants D line really did all that much to cause it.

Skins D Line: pretty much as expected and Taylor did not show much and he is all they have.

Skins secondary: what a joke. That superbowlish thread is even funnier now. Landry stank it up in every way- looks like the sophomore slump is here.
The rest of the DBs smelled.

Skins WRs. They have wide receivers?

Cooley. Even more pathetic as a blocker then he was.

Portis. gotta give him credit he sure tried everything possible.

Zorn: this could get funny waiting for Danny Boy to panic and fire him.

This is biting criticism, for sure...

The thing is, it's 100 per cent right...

Or that our competition looks "that" inept.

I don't expect the Commanders to be very good this year, but I somehow doubt they're going to average 200 total yards per game for the season and be the worst team in the history of the NFL.

The Giants had something to do with why they looked so bad.

If the Giants play that "good" against us, we'll win easily.

How do you assess their pass rush?

It seemed unimpressive. I believe the Giants only mustered one sack, when Campbell essentially walked into the arms of Justin Tuck.
