Bottom line is D could not make a stop when it really mattered

Suh.

Don't like him. But he has that nastiness that this D needs. Not to mention he's one of the best in the NFL. Probably too expensive though, and it's a risk spending so much on a single defensive player.

I actually think the secondary isn't that bad. The complete lack of pressure is what makes them look like they are.

Leaving out the moronic rule that cost us a sure TD. But we cannot do anything about that stupid rule; we can do something about a D that when the season was on the line it could not get us a stop.

That is where the effort MUST be this offseason.

I have not watched the game yet but the box numbers speak for themselves: Rodgers passed for 300-plus yards and Lacey ran for 101. Green Bay was incredibly successful on 3rd down and the Dallas D could not stop Green Bay on two long drives.

The LB and CB positions are good enough but the d-line and safety positions need some serious upgrades.

I agree. Still doesn't excuse the league for screwing up the rule, but I do agree.

Mainly because we would have to go for 2 and then hope that the Packers couldn't score a FG with about 3:45 left on the clock.

I think Rodgers is great and all, but I think the Packers get creamed in Seattle. Rodgers was basically playing on 1 leg and had a great day passing the ball.

I don't think we can panic and I don't think we can say we are 1 player away from winning the Super Bowl either.

I think we need to keep doing what we are doing which is making progress on defense.

Defense is more 'volatile' in the NFL...you can go from being a lousy defense to a great defense in 1 year (and vice versa). Offense is more stable, if you're good 1 year on offense you're likely to be good year-after-year (unless your QB gets injured).

We need to continue to have an offense that runs the ball well to keep the defense off the field. And we need to have an offense that can score points to put the defense in a favorable situation.

I think we need to stick to the same 4-3 scheme and we can't give away picks for 1 player. We need to add picks and find value in Free Agency to formulate a good defense.

The defense held them for a good part of the game.

The defense should have had a bigger lead.

Offense needed to be bigger. It wasn't.

Missed opportunities... In this order: Romo needed to make better decisions, Murray not fumbling would have been nice, Bailey hitting FG.

Held ball too long. Even Rodgers dumped it off quicker. Smarter.
Held ball too long. Asked too much of oline.

Agreed! Just heard Emmitt on NFL network say all we're short is an elite Pass rusher and Run stopper.

pass rush is the biggest need, not sure about Lawrence but we do have to give him time. But nothing wrong about drafting another pass rusher....

According to you guys it's all excuses.

1. Romo tries to do much ( needed more yesterday)2.
2. Romo never had a good team
3. Receiver ran wrong route
4. Oline wasn't good

It's all crud.

No doubt Defense played with a lot of heart and hustle through out the season and even within the GB game but it is not enough, Dallas will need to add to talent to this defense. Dallas gives QB's way too much time. On the good side I think there are some guys who will be able to come back next year and be a big help to this defense.

Agree. We need desperately a pass rush to be a Superbowl team. Even if we beat GB and Seattle could we beat say, the Patriots, in the Superbowl?
Too many plays this year where the rush was a second or a half second from the QB and couldn't close the deal, before a pass was completed.

Pass rush needed. Sean Lee somehow staying healthy. Either get Murray back or another power back that can make the most of this line, which will get the benefit of more time to solidify. Doug Free staying healthy. Tony Romo not having to play 1/2 season with a broken back. The way I see it we have Romo for 2-3 seasons before his skills start to decline.

What happened this year was an incredible achievement of players brought in, next man up, coaching upgrades, heart and determination, and a D playing beyond what was expected.
There is more to do to become a Superbowl winner.

I agree the Defense needs to be addressed, Cant look at every play but the non fumble recovery on ST that we didn't recover and Murray fumbling instead of going in for a TD cost us

Yes, we need to get more pressure on the QB. Our defense was our weakness for sure.

I will always feel that Dez caught that ball, ... but I also feel that we would have still lost.

Nobody knows that or can say for sure, .. but we could not stop Rodgers in the 2nd half, so I think he would have taken them back down after we score off of the Dez reception.

Let's tighten up this defense and make another run next season.

Good god.

Reality. What's your reality today?

Do me a favor. Seriously. Be honest. Tell me there wasn't one or two times where you didn't think or say "romo you can't do that" or "romo you have to hit Beas to extend this drive"

If you tell me you didn't then I will take your word for it and leave it alone.

I know many will disagree and that is fine, myself I applaud the job this unit did this season. I think there is not a lot of big talent on this unit but these guys played hard all season long, gave it everything and for that I thank them. I look forward to seeing the Cowboys address the defense this coming off season but I will not spend my time slamming the effort put forth by this group of guys.

Tony Romo was one of the best players in the league this year, if not the best. He doesn't need to do anything more than he's doing. He's a Super Bowl caliber QB and anyone who looks at him as a problem has their head up their backside.

They need to think about adding a linebacker as well. Even if they sign Carter and Lee comes back (or if they decide to continue with the McClain experiment), they really need to think about getting some players that can play the full season and start cycling out some of these guys that just can't make it through.

your agenda is to blame Romo. So you claiming otherwise is pathetic. That is why I likened you to a professional protester. Now leave and bother someone else who might care

I have not been a fan of the training staff's inability to keep players healthy.

However, I will say that the training staff is excellent at transforming players' bodies to increase their performance if the player buys into it.

Case in point, Joseph Randle. He looks like a completely different player this year.

And we've done this with other players like Leary, Murray, Crawford, Wilcox, etc.

So I can certainly look at Lawrence with potential next season.

I think the good part of this team is that we can look for the BPA in the draft. I don't see any reason for us to draft a tailback, WR, TE, Center or LB in the first round next year. But the other positions we can comfortably look for the BPA and that should be beneficial to the team.

This thread was about the defense. You hijacked it, with a Romo rant.

We do not have a very good defense.

It utterly failed in the last 3 drives.

We need to improve it for next season.

Romo and the offense cannot mask it 100 percent of the time.

Not a hater.
