Bottom line is D could not make a stop when it really mattered

I don't think we can panic and I don't think we can say we are 1 player away from winning the Super Bowl either.

I think we need to stick to the same 4-3 scheme and we can't give away picks for 1 player. We need to add picks and find value in Free Agency to formulate a good defense.

Agreed.

Suh isn't going to turn this into a top-10 defense.

Paea, Sheard, a 1st round DE and a 2nd round safety would all be very helpful.

Tony Romo was one of the best players in the league this year, if not the best. He doesn't need to do anything more than he's doing. He's a Super Bowl caliber QB and anyone who looks at him as a problem has their head up their backside.

You didn't answer the question?

They did make a stop. They batted a pass on a third and long, Scandrick had his man blanketed, but they got a fluke play.

He could turn this into a top-10 defense because defensive performance is so volatile.

But, the question is what the cost will be. With cost comes risk. And with cost means that somebody else, perhaps on offense, has to go.

And we could turn ourselves into a top-10 defense *possibly* by drafting the right player and getting some key FA pickups. Maybe Lawrence's game steps up, Spencer has another good season, Crawford continues to improve and we find a top quality safety to replace Church in the draft and that frees things up. Perhaps Ebeflus becomes the DC and he makes the difference.

It's very difficult to predict the NFL because of the injury rate and the way the league is set up for parity. That's why the assumption we are 1 player away from winning the Super Bowl and strategizing for that is unwise. The teams that have consistently had that philosophy over the years have been...Dallas and Washington. And it hasn't worked out well for either team.

That's why I think the patient team in the draft usually beats the impatient team in the draft.

What we need to do is get Garrett re-signed right away and then we can figure out what we are going to do with Linehan and Marinelli and then plan from there.

Leaving out the moronic rule that cost us a sure TD. But we cannot do anything about that stupid rule; we can do something about a D that when the season was on the line it could not get us a stop.

That is where the effort MUST be this offseason.

Rodgers had ALL day by simply stepping up in the pocket.

A change needed made. A coach can't just "will" the DL to play better.

Crawford was owned........completely.

Mostly agree but Scandy didn't have him blanketed. If he did he could have interfered w Cobb without penalty since it was tipped. That said there were a few unlucky plays near the end. Rodgers threw a terrible pass that Wilcox almost picked, the Hannah almost fumble recovery, and the Dez overturn. So we had some bad luck too

Dallas was actually targeting defense the last two years, with Floyd. Martin was the first pick, though Dallas had 3 other players before him and they were all defense. Dallas then went Lawrence at DE.

They technically draft BPA, but Dallas knows defense is a problem si I'm sure they grade somewhat with this in mind. But they maintain they go BPA and address free agency via needs. I would love Suh here though. I would actually argue he does make this a top 10 defense.

I agree with you.

Smart drafting and smart FA signings.

Injuries are a wildcard, as is the potential for huge free-agent acquisitions to not pan out due to human nature (getting paid=getting fat & happy).

The thing is, when a WR turns his route back around, your normally not expecting it to be because of a batted pass. That is probably why Scandrick was so surprised. It's just annoying. Romo outplayed Rodgers that game.

Defense held GB to a field goal when given a short field after demarco's fumble in the second half, no credit for that. I lost hope in the game after the catch was reversed, I'm sure it was even harder for the defensive players to hear it and have to go back out on the field and get a stop. Huge, irreversible swing in momentum. Homer in me felt like davante adams pushed off, offensive PI, on one of the third downs of the final drive, but that's just me reaching.

Respectfully. How so?

Rodgers was throwing ducks all game. The only drive where one could say he was really impressive was the final drive they scored on. Romo was managing plays, was accurate, taking a bunch of illegal hits below the knees, and got robbed on another one of what would have been game-winning drives.

We need Pass rushers who can get to the QB. That is one of the things that Jerry should focus on when he works on the D in the off season

Let's be honest, many of us knew that ultimately this defense was going to be the reason for the end of our season, whenever that was going to happen.

Regardless of the BS call on Dez catch, this defense couldn't stop a runny nose at times, including much of yesterday.
