Cowboys just need more proven vets like that on defense. Sorry Durant, you were never great enough in your career to be classified in that category. Too bad they couldn't get anyone for the secondary either. Also why I wanted Dwight Freeney here to play a part-time role and mentor the young DEs. It's not like Taco, Mayowa, and Tapper are playing great enough at weakside DE either.

Bowman is only 29 and was on pace to surpass his all pro numbers from 2015 before his injury last year.

He's still an elite run defender. He struggles in coverage because he's slow.

We need him on 1st and 2nd downs, Jaylon can play on 3rd down.

If he visits with Dallas....and Dallas really wants him, he will be a Cowboy.

Personally I hope we get him. But the Raiders might not let him leave without a contract, and the Cowboys might not want him as bad as I do.

But what do I know.

We need another LB. Him coming free, even a bit hobbled, is almost too good to be true. But it sounds like we're his 2nd choice. Let's hope OAK *****es it.

For all the yahoos talking about the Cowboys being cheap, where was this talk when they convinced Greg Hardy & La'el Collins to come here? Just because they didn't go on a Giants-esque spending spree (look at where it got them), doesn't mean they don't offer players money if need be.

I feel we will sign him for sure.

(Really, I’m not sure at all)

It's just the pathetic self-loathing talking.

If we get him...and he can play...and we get better play at the safety position, it'll make a WORLD of difference.

With Hitchens back, and Awuzie and Woods stealing S reps, I'd be pretty satisfied for the short term, anyway.

What have you seen from Jaylon so far that makes you want to see him on third downs? Or was that sarcasm?

Jaylon is processing too much information which is a no-no for a rookie that hasn't played in over a year. Having him on 3rd downs would give him the necessary number of snaps for him to become more acclimated with the speed of the game and continue to develop at the position rather than having him play in every down when he looks more like a deer in headlights.

Jaylon can stay on the sidelines especially on 3rd downs. He can't cover anyone right now. Use Jaylon to spell Bowman occasionally on 1st or 2nd down but no more than 10 plays per game.

However this situation goes, I definitely want to see less Heath and Jaylon Smith out there when they hit the field again.

If nothing changes, nothing changes.

could he be worst than jaylon who sucks vs the pass and the run? Jaylon may need to be brough along slowly as he heals

IF Lee and Hitchens healthy where do we play Bowman? Move Hitchens to SLB? Bowman plays MLB. Jaylon can warm the bench.

Woods played good vs the Rams and he barely plays vs the Packers. Yet we play Heath a lot still
