Shocking on Hurd and Proctor. The tender to Bowen clearly shows Canty not in the future. They may lose Austin, but a 2nd round pick not bad for an UDFA.

I guess it's not that big of a deal. $1.5M or whatever is pretty insignificant to the salary cap as a whole.

I can't imagine why they'd keep Proctor. He was dreadful.

My guess is these are some BP guys they want to hold onto for another year of evaluation.

Tight end Tony Curtis did not receive a tender. Curtis was third on the depth chart last season behind Pro Bowl starter Jason Witten and second-round pick Martellus Bennett, and the Cowboys seem to like the potential of exclusive rights free agent Rodney Hannah, who spent all but the season's final week on the practice squad.

C-ya Curtis!

that's the problem with the undrafted guys. you have no option but the 2nd round tender. I could see Hurd and Bowen getting some minor interest. Those two are solid depth guys. Austin, duh. We gotta keep him. Proctor? Well, he's our only backup C right now.

I expect this is a hedge against not finding guys in the draft. Doesn't mean we keep them all -- several might get a take it or leave it offer on a 2 year deal where we buy a year of their UFA. Keep in mind they only get the $ if they are on the team next year.

Ugh...makes my stomach churn. I bet Miami's willing to part with a 2nd for Austin.

Procter and Hurd are very surprising, since that money is guaranteed and I don't see either one of them making it through camp.

Maybe that's why Jerry's in Philly. Didn't want to be in Dallas for the backlash.

Curtis should have been cut right after the fiasco in Arizona. He not only cost the Cowboys the game but a pro-bowl punter also.

Jimmy would have jettisoned his arse in no time.

Procter and Hurd are surprising.

Not so surprising when it is 2nd round tender or no comp. If these guys can make the roster, then it isn't so bad.

A 2nd for Austin? That'd surprise me. They'd have to come up with a really big contract.

My thinking exactly. Maybe he has some "value" as a capable  backup b/c of his experience?! If I were him my name would be on the dotted line already...I doubt he gets a sniff in f/a, especially for a 2nd!

I have no doubt they'd give up a 2nd. But I don't think they want to get into a pissing match with Jerry and the league with a poison pill/contract bidding situation.

If Austin walks, do we get the 2nd rounder this year or next?

JJ must have thought MIA was interested in Hurd to give him $1.5M. It's not like he's a bad player but w/ Owens, Williams, Crayton & Austin...what's he gonna do except play S/T?

I agree with you in the sense that I dont see Parcells trying to establish a poison pill per say in a potential deal, however, I do not see them parting with a 2nd rounder for Austin. I am willing to agree that it is in the realm of possibility. I do not know where Miami picks, but they did make the playoffs, so it cannot be too high.
