Ugh...makes my stomach churn. I bet Miami's willing to part with a 2nd for Austin.

Procter and Hurd are very surprising, since that money is guaranteed and I don't see either one of them making it through camp.

Surprising, yes and no. I can understand to a degree why though.
Austin, yes a no brainer. Bowen, I can see that. As for Hurd & Proctor, I can see it from the standpoint of experience, and who are you going to get to replace them. You know what you have in them, and who you get to replace them, will they be any better.

And if someone does offer them something, you get something in return more than if they walk on out. It's not like they are just horrible palyers. Proctor is ok as a backup, just not a starter, as we all seen. If the money is not garanteed, and are releaed then we lost nothing. If no one better comes along, then we still have some experineced [maybe over priced] depth.

They are both the same. Neither is a guaranteed.

I not sure about this. I have found nothing that says restricted tenders are a "must pay or guarantee" but franchise tag info is available.

Franchise tag
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franchise_player
A team can designate a single player as its franchise player and therefore restrict the player from entering free agency. In return, the team must pay the player a premium salary

or

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Football_League#Franchise_tag
The franchise tag is a designation given to a player by a franchise that guarantees that player a contract the average of the five highest-paid players of that same position in the entire league, or 120% of the player's previous year's salary (whichever is greater) in return for retaining rights to that player for one year.

They are using the word guarantee/must pay in a different manner. These don't reflect a guaranteed contract. A guaranteed deal would mean that the player got that money NO MATTER WHAT. That is not how the phrase is used in the definition you provided. Keep in mind this isn't official contract language you are citing. It is a quick and dirty wikipedia explanation.

Guaranteed money would mean that even if the guy was cut, he'd still get the cash and if he were traded that there would be an acceleration into the team's salary cap. Neither are true.

You don't believe me, call for AdamJT to answer this. He may still be sore about taking a beating in another thread though, so be gentle.

Let Proctor and Hurd walk. Parcy wants em he can have em. Would love to see Miami's QB get blown up in their own end zone while Proctor just stays in hisstance. Jerry is out to lunch giving these guys 2nd round tenders. Rewarding stagnant, complacent talent is becoming Jerry's fortay.

Then again if they sign the tenders now Jerry can still let them go and not have to guarantee any of that money. So maybe Jerry is just making sure teams have less options and we have more. Then again their salaries for the time being add approx $3 million to our cap number. Easily can still be removed though. Just hope Jerry doesn't keep these guys on and gets rid of Barbie.

Cutting Ellis would save us over $5 million and Roy is gone or restructuring so that's more savings. So we stand over $12 million under without these moves being made yet and Wares contract on the horizon.

CP has to be the worst O lineman I have seen in quite a while. And we're gonna pay him 1.5 mil to play again for us?

I guess it's not that big of a deal. $1.5M or whatever is pretty insignificant to the salary cap as a whole.

I can't imagine why they'd keep Proctor. He was dreadful.

Currently, he's the only backup center. No reason to just let him go until we get another one.

Exactly. What's the big deal? These offers aren't guaranteed, so we can cut them whenever we want.

We'll probably draft a replacement for CP, but if the cards don't fall right and we can't, this just provides a little insurance.

Agreed. We are getting way too emotional over nothing.

What are you talking about?

I'm not the one who "takes a beating" when you fail to comprehend the gist of something. You only continue to prove that you can't grasp simple concepts that already have been proven ad infinitum.
