What happened to "all signs point to our tendering Austin at the lowest level"?

Oh.

Maybe that's why Jerry's in Philly. Didn't want to be in Dallas for the backlash.
Maybe...

Curtis should have been cut right after the fiasco in Arizona. He not only cost the Cowboys the game but a pro-bowl punter also.

Jimmy would have jettisoned his arse in no time.
It's bigger than that. He cost us the season.

How many will be ok if we get a 2nd for Austin? I think that Mia is going to offer the 2nd and grab him.

This draft is loaded with centers!

Alex Mack
Max Unger
Eric Wood
Jonathan Luigs
Antoine Caldwell

Safe-guarding Proctor makes no sense to me.

The second round tender is only 530,000 more than the regular tender and I don't believe the money is guaranteed. Procter, Hurd, Bowen and Austin still have to make the team to get the money.

I expect this is a hedge against not finding guys in the draft. Doesn't mean we keep them all -- several might get a take it or leave it offer on a 2 year deal where we buy a year of their UFA. Keep in mind they only get the $ if they are on the team next year.

Yep, we're covering our *** just incase we can't strike gold (or oil in Jerry's case) in free agency or the draft.

I would have rather the team just sent Proctor on his way and tendered Austin to a 1st rounder.

If Dallas loses Austin, I will be pissed.

Yeah, I googled it and it doesn't look to be guaranteed.

SO we can cut Proctor without taking a hit?

The money isn't important.

It is the fact that once again, it appears that the talent has been overvalued by our GM.

Think about it.

Jerry Jones was so concerned about losing a special teams WR and an average at best guard that he is daring teams to spend a second round pick.
That basically says he has zero confidence he can replace that so he would be willing to pay over market value for it.

If this were a game of poker, he'd have lost his shirt by now.

Proctor? Well, he's our only backup C right now.

I bet we could draft a center that would instantly be better than Proctor from the first day he dons the uniform.
