Corey Proctor is Jason Voorhies

Uhhhh, wasn't Jason a running back??

I mean, all the scouting reports I've seen on the guy use the same word-- "slashing"... and isn't that adjective usually applied to running backs??

This is all part of Jerry's plan. He's going to package Procter and Carpenter to Miami for a 7th rounder.

You reckon that's all Miami will want to take them off our hands?? :D

How many will be ok if we get a 2nd for Austin? I think that Mia is going to offer the 2nd and grab him.

Nope I wouldn't be upset at all. I'd be thrilled to take a 2nd for him.

As for the other tenders I don't think they're surprising if you think about them a minute.

Bowen - This tender is because the Cowboys have already mentally decided that Canty is gone. They're not going to try and keep him cause of the money he's asking.

Proctor - While we all know he sucks we also all know that Wade did nothing but speak highly of him last season. Including in that Giants game, where he was horrific, and Wade said he graded out the highest of any lineman. I'm not shocked, in the least, that he's been tendered cause it's really not a lot of money and the guy can, theoretically, be kept around as a back up to two positions.

Plus if Holland and Kosiar can stay healthy then Proctor is only going to be the back up to Andre anyway.

Hurd - This is a depth move for experience, I believe. I believe this is because Jerry and Company feel like there is a good shot that someone might offer Austin a deal that he's not intending to match (Miami for example) and he's making sure that he's not down 2 WR spots. This way he only really has to replace one with a rookie, or really cheap FA, and keep Hurd and his experience around.

The only reason I can think of to tender Proctor is to show the other lineman how things are not suppose to be done

I am ok with all of them. Proctor is a head scratcher, but he is a young guy. If Jerry is willing to give Wade another year, then Proctor does too. Hell Barbie Carpenter is still scheduled to collect more free paychecks.

I know this isn't such a big deal.

But.

It is if you want to make it one.

This team has done nothing in the last three seasons with this roster, yet Jerry is always talking about trying to keep the majority of the players around.

Why?

Yeah, the Demarcus Wares, the Jason Wittens, the Terence Newmans, the Terrell Owens, The MBIII's, etc should be getting new deals.

But constantly fearing bringing in new players to challenge the starters is a problem.

We know Procter stinks. Do the Cowboys? Are they afraid that they won't find anyone else to do what he does for this team? Why even offer him an offer when you benched him for Montrae Holland?

It's a stupid move.

So is offering Sam Hurd a deal. We already have three WR's in the same mold as Hurd who are much better than he is. Let him go.

Stop trying to hang onto every player you think 'might' improve with more work Jerry! And epecially after watching them for three seasons work and still be just about the same player they were three seasons ago.

Please don't tell me Isaiah Stanback is going to be a Dallas Cowboy for 12 years and wind up with a career total of 9 catches.

I'm pretty sure if they sign the tender, it's garunteed. And while a guy like Miles Austin may wait until the last minute to sign, guys like Procto or Hurd who won't get 1.5 mil, will sign in less than a week.

Man, I didn't expect Proctor & Hurd to get that high of a tender...

I expected everyone except Hurd. What I can't understand is why everyone thought Proctor wouldn't. The man is our backup center and a backup guard. Yeah, he isn't very good but who is going to take his place at center. Nobody on the roster plays center beside Gurode. Are you going to draft a center high enough to take his place???? No. You are going to use the second round choice on the best player you can find and that probably won't be a center.

You MUST have a backup center. He is versatile by playing two positions and he has starting experience. It was an easy choice.

That's my first thought, too... I can kinda understand it in Hurd's case, but Cory??

At what point did he play well enough to justify that tender??

At what point did the Cowboys have a backup center besides Cory?

To think last year some people thought we might put a second round tender on Barber.

We're pretty much going to lose Austin. That'll give us 12 picks overall. Or does it come next year?

Continuity. That's the theme for the organization right now.

Don't you know just more time together will make the coaching staff better and the players able to jell?

I guarantee you the reason they wont let him walk is because he knows 3 positions and we haven't developed a backup center.

If Gurode goes down we have no one with experience in the offense making the line calls.

Proctor being a smart businessman has paid off.

I also think Holland will start over Kosier next year so Proctor will be lower on the depth chart as well.

So basically he is the backup center.

I think the plan is to keep all of our WR's in tact and if we lose Miles Austin than we will just replace him with the 2nd round pick that we will get for compensation.

Hurd is a beast on Special Teams and that is most likely the #1 reason for us wanting to keep him.

IMO keeping a player like Hurd with his all around skill set is not a dumb move at all.
