Irving is 22, was a free player, signed off the Practice Squad, and has a $525,000 cap hit. We'll also hold his contract rights for the next 2 years after 2016.

Mayowa is going to cost close to $2M and will count towards the compensatory draft pick equation.

They may be equal talents (which I don't think they are), but they are not the same type of acquisition at all.

I simply meant by the talent. Dallas obviously sees something in him and Oakland liked him enough to tender him. It may not turn into much but I could care less about 1 year contracts, I doubt we are that close to the cap to matter when it is all said and done with.

Also as far as comp picks go...would we even get one next year? I don't know if Turbin/Hardy will be enough to qualify. I don't know much about it but I do know we retained most of our free agents.

Honestly...I wouldn't have signed this kid just for the fact he went to the University of Idaho. That place still smells like pee from Mark Schlereth....and they wonder why they can't recruit up there.

I think everyone agrees with that for the most part.

It just gets old when we make some minor move and people act like the end of the world is here because it wasn't a Pro Bowler.
This just in, there are 32 teams and there were very few serious pass rushers available in free agency

However, many would say that if Dez' catch stood that Dallas may have beaten GB anyway. I didn't think we had a Super Bowl worthy defense that year , regardless.

When I posted a thread asking for people to name the free agents that they would bring in and specify the contract they would be willing to cough up....this forum was crickets.
A bunch of whining but pretty much zero solutions of something that'd work for us short and long term, both cap-wise and on the field.

.

Not sure why "it gets old" when a franchise with a 20+ year record of mediocrity does nothing to upgrade in the off season while teams that are perennial post season representatives do

Benson Mayowa is just 24 now...interesting. This is adding up to a pretty youthful up front for the Dallas defensive line.

He may be 24 but he looks every bit of a 12 year vet. Has a little Greg Odom going on. Looking 10 years older than he really is.

Three years and $9 million, will certainly get Oakland's attention. It could be enough to make him a Cowboy with a lot of upside, but with his eyes already open to what he needs to be doing for development. Getting into the Cowboys' training system will help him. I'm liking the prospects as well. Up end and with a similar selection criteria that Dallas has. That has to mesh pretty well...to this fan.

I have confidence in the scouting department on hand for Dallas now.

whining gets old fast no matter what the reason.

It gets old the way a room full of screaming babies gets old. And for similar reasons. Except babies have the excuse that they don't really know any better.

Back yourself in a corner by being stingy and you have to massively overpay. All you need is one desperate team when you are available.

Gotta love free agency....in all professional sports. This is why I will never understand why players act up when the opportunity is there to cash in if you basically act civilized.
