Lucky for Cowboys Fan, Bills current MO is to take over a bad team and leave them in great shape. The Pats, the Jets were sewer dwellers and look what he did for them. I guess Dallas will be left much the same.

pity

*knock knock* anyone home?

I'm not speculating. It's fact. He has NEVER fulfilled the terms of his contract with ANY team he has coached. That's not speculation, it's fact.

I think, IMO, it's a "pity" when people create a false reality so that they feel better.

I would submit going 25-24 is be tter than going 15-33 but what do I know?

:p:

Mornin' Bugle Boy...I LOVE this kind of thinking.

Our expectation have been SO watered down that mediocrity is now a badge of honor.

This is like going to court and using a defense that goes sorta like this..."Your honor, I know that I was going 23 mph over the speed limit....but the guy who you prosecuted before me was going 33 mph over the speed limit."

Ya wanna do some reseach?

Maybe we can ask Adam...

Which coach has cost his team the most money per win?

Ya realize, Parcells has earned $540,000 per win?

What? Come-on, we've gone from crappy all the way to mediocre and you're not satsified? You certainly weren't expecting a play-off appearance after a 7-3 start were you?

Well, you can't please everyone.

Maybe thats why he added one more year to his contract.

His plan is to leave after next year but signing the contract gets the question of "are you coaching next year" off of his back for the time being.

I don't really understand this thinking. We really improved the roster a lot in the last year. Additionally we increased from 6 to 9 wins this year. How can all of that be considered a bad season? Most people wanted a 9 or 10 win season before the season started.

Maybe it was because we started 7-3 and then endured the biggest collapse in Cowboys history?

Thats a dissapointment to me regardless of what my preseason expectations were.

Good point.

In hindsight, I think he's been a bad fit.

It seems to me that a team that is truly rebuilding can't have a coach who is going to have everyone wondering, every year, if he's gonna walk.

Now, if this was 1994....He would be the PERFECT guy for the job. I mean, can you imagine, with the talent we had, what he could have done?

The only way he strikes me as the right guy for the job is when I think of the potential hires Jerry could have made based on his history. Maybe that's why everyone is elated about this. It beats Jerry bringing Barry Switzer back.

Bad excuse but injuries had a major role in that collapse. Patriots started out injured and couldnt do any thing. When they were healthy well......

The plain truth is, once that 7-3 record was achieved, ya can't say "There is no way we wouldn't have been happy with 9 wins before the season started"

I'll say the same thing I said of the 10-6 season, which also saw us wash out in the second half of the season.

If this team went 8-8 last year..7-9...and finished really strong, I'd be happier.

Hola Dave.

Compared to other teams, I'll bet ya a nickel, our injury problem wasn't that bad. I dunno if anyone tracks these things but I'd like to see a stat of games lost by starters due to injury.

The O line, with the exception of Flozell was intact the entire season. I'll bet we are one of the few teams that can say that.

Our QB didn't miss a snap. I KNOW we are one of the few teams that can say that.

Our WR's..TE...lost no time due to injury.

FB..no time lost

HB...yep time lost.

Our D-Line lost NO time due to injury.

Our LB's...a couple of tough hits there.

Our secondary, with the exception of Henry, who lost 6 or so games, was intact the entire season.

Injuries become a problem when the roster is paper thin. There's no depth on this team. When JJ went down, Barber stepped up.

Everyone experiences injuries during the season. I know losing Adams hurt us on offense but BP was the one that settled for Tucker backing him up and starting a rookie 6th round pick at RT.

Not to even mention the circus with our aleged kickers.

Even Parcells admits (in his own way) that he sucked this past year. He said in that car interview last night that he hoped to do a better job this year than what he did last year.

I wouldn't even give BP an entire season if it's apparent that we are going to suck during the year. If we are like 4-7, I would pull the plug immediately. BP has been given more with this franchise under Jerry Jones, and any coach not named Jimmy JOhnson....No excuses for BP, None for Keyshawn, or Bledsoe or any of these high priced vets this up coming season..

Ya know, I would trust Parcells entirely with a young team.

....I think he was a great coach while in NY.

And he did it with youth.

It's almost as if he's read the clippings about who he is an he's become a caricature of himself.

Yeah, he's always had a rough edge to him...but he was a BLAST...get the NFL films stuff and listen to the few times they had a chance to tape him...Steve Sabol interviewing him was great..he smiled...he kidded around...AND he had that edge as well...

Now it's just become all this sour, pissy, arrogant, angry crap.

It ain't the same guy. Note to Bill. Go back to having fun!

Example: After the SuperBowl win vs the Bills...Bruce Smith had been running his mouth before the game...Parcells got to Jumbo Elliot about it..all week...Press conference after the game...a reporter starts to ask a question "Bruce Smith said..." Parcells cuts him off with that great smile and says "Is he still talking. Tell him to talk to Jumbo"

Loved it.

He was having fun.

Watching him singing "Old Time Rock and Roll" on the sidelines was a blast.

This ain't the same guy.

I think I mentioned that I have a customer who used to ref the Giant practices...did so for years...in fact, Parcells brought this guy and his wife to the superbowls as a way of saying "thanks"...

I was in his office when he was talking to ex Giant coach Ron Earhardt before we played Pittsburg in the Super Bowl...

Anyway...he has a TON of stories about how the Giant players used to bust on Parcells...the practical jokes they (and he) would play on him...etc.

GO HAVE FUN BILL....You aren't "too old to lose"...you're too old to not be enjoying life.

He's just too impatient. And I think that he thinks that he made mistakes in his 1st 2 years and he's beating himself up over it.

Now he's doing what he is supposed to do in FA and the draft. But I don't like all of the grumpy stuff either.

I'm a little concerned if Payton leaves, he will be back to calling plays, and I don't know if that's a good thing.

Well, the throw a small monkey wrench in this line of thinking, I'll put out this fact.

By signing the extension, he has actually guaranteed that he will complete his original contract, which was for four years.

He's not only agreed to this, but has added a year.

Now I do think that there's a possibility that he's only extended his contract by one year in order to diffuse the "lame duck" situation that would have existed all year in '06.

So...yes there is a good chance we'll all be having this same conversation about Bill leaving after the 2006 season.

At which point, he'll either re-up again for another year or leave. In the end he will almost defintely leave with one year on his contract left....whenever that may be. Personally there's nothing wrong with the likely fact that BP will never coach a team through a season where he has no contract for the following year. It's a sensible idea to not be a "lame duck" for the sake of the team... especially with BP's past.

Think about it...how many coaches in the history of the NFL have signed a contract and coached for however many years stipulated, then rode off into the sunset? Every coach I can think of has either been fired or left early by his choice. If this was Vermiel's last year of his contract, then that's the only contrary example I can think of.

So yeah, will very likely leave before his full contract is up, but he has now fulfilled his original one.
