Yeah, we know, so what? This isn't a big surprise to anyone who's paying attention. But it also doesn't mean he's washed up or worthless either.
Is he overpaid? Absolutely. But that isn't his fault. And I don't believe all the "he got paid so he doesn't try as hard crap". How many other RB's getting his $ would have played with that knee injury behind that crap O-line last year?

The bottom line is he's declining, as any back that has been used as much as he has been would. He isn't going to run away from too many defenders in this league anymore. But he still does a lot of thing very well and on the NFL level. He blocks extremely well. He runs hard/tough and will fall forward for the short gain if nothing else. He can catch the ball very well too. He is the best complete back on this team, PERIOD. And still better than a lot of other teams "complete backs".

As bad as his over inflated contract looks now, it was in fact at the time, a good deal for him and Dallas. It kept a very good complete back here while he was still producing at a high level. And it saved face for him to end his hold out because the numbers looked so big. But it was designed from day 1 to be able to part ways after the 2022 season, knowing full well that he'd be on the decline. The questions were and are, how fast would he decline, would he still be worth the $ this year? And would he hold up long enough to possibly get another year out of him in 2023 if need be? And the answer is no, probably not. But he is still useful and will be used as much as possible this year, while they can still get a return on the $.

I'm a fan of Tony Pollard same as ya'll, but I don't believe he's a complete back. I don't want to rely on him protecting Dak. And I don't believe for a second that he'd be nearly as dynamic if given the majority of the work load. The two of them together give us a great thunder and lighting kind of back field that K Moore needs to lean how to get on the field together more. The question moving forward is, what will they do next season with no Zeke and TP a free agent? I really thought they would have drafted a complete RB this past April in preparation for that scenario.

He was never a speed back that was going to outrun people. We were all captivated in 2016 when he was hurdling people and ramming them and gainimng extra yards but with that comes a price his body has paid the price. I feel like his production is more of a testament of the way the line played from 2014-18. They were lights out.

Thats not say hes chopped liover hes still a top ten back and can be an asset for us.

If that was the case then why did they allow Pollard to rest his injury but not allow Zeke to rest his?

If you're right and it was the coaches decisions and not the doctors or players themselves then they should be looked into for playing multiple supposed injured player in a meaningless game while allowing others (Pollard and Diggs) to rest their injuries.

There was nothing to gain from that Eagles game except reaching a few milestones for a couple certain "hurt" players that played, and in Zeke's case, had his 3rd most carries for a game that season.
I don;t know why they did either one. It's their call. Zeke can ask to play if he wants. The coaches decided to play him. This SHOULD be very simple. Why are you making it complicated?

I think I mentioned before...the only reason to play stars, let alone "hurt"....is to take momentum and confidence into the playoffs. They may not have thought of it as "meaningless" like you do.

I think he should have not played hurt. I call that the Romo Effect. Playing hurt gets you more hurt.

Can't dispute the ranking, can't dispute Zeke is out next year.....can't dispute Zeke getting his money when he did......he deserved it.

Can we dispute, Zeke got used like a bad habit in his early years?......more than 300+ carries than a RB like Derrick Henry in a similar span.
Can we dispute the Zeke should have been granted time off the field to heal from injury?

Can we dispute the OL has been overrated for some time, now, with run blocking and pass blocking?
Can we dispute the emergence of TPollard skillset is under- utilized?
Can we dispute the uncertainty that TPollard can actually be an every-down back, with pass-protection skills too and between the tackle runs?

All the questions why Zeke got & deserved his money at the time.......RB shelf-life is short.

He'll be gone after this season, so a new Fall Guy will surface to compete for the dubious honor that will be all Dak's, due to salary.

Here is a novel thought.

Maybe the coaching staff knew that Pollard and Diggs were more important than Zeke? It will definitely spark a debate. Could be some truth in it though.
I wouldn't use the word "novel" for that thought.

Their usage (or lack there of) of Pollard should tell you that your theory is dead wrong. .

I cannot argue too much against this RB ranking from ESPN.
And I know the zeke haters will love hearing this but at this point, this Zeke version is serviceable like, but he’s no longer special

I haven’t seen enuff of Broncos D. Williams to rate him as a sure top 10, (nor Steelers' Harris) but few times I have seen Williams, he seemed to be similar
to Zeke in that He’s bullish style, methodical runner - without the big long run splash like the top five guys.

We’ll see over a longer period of time if Williams is special kind of bull. ala Jamal Anderson, Natron Means, Shaun Alexander, etc.

I’m not basing Zeke off an injured 2021 season, but also recent years. At this point, he’s at best, he’s Mark Ingram 2.0
Everyone knows it, it all points to his lack of burst. His burst was special and elite when he enter the 2016 NFL draft with, why the club selected as high as No.4th overall
and why they re-signed him as then the highest paid RB in NFL.

What i can still say with Elliott besides his durability and blitz blocking, he's still a hard charging bullish tazmanian devil in a china cabinet
when it comes goal line power running and scoring. Still very difficult one on one to corral and stop at the goal line.

Him and Pollard can be one of the better duo's in the league if used properly aka give the ball to Pollard more however I have little faith in KM.

Even if he puts up decent numbers he needs to be gone next year regardless.
