It was baked into the cake since 2019.

Dak wouldn't sign:
2019 - Making 2mil with 3mil prior earnings, with 3 years til free agency
2020 - Making 32mil with 5mil prior earnings, with 2 years til free agency
Why sign now?
2021 - Making 38mil, with 37mil prior earnings, with 1 year til free agency

If he wouldn't sign in 2019, when he was financially *least* secure and *farthest* from free agency, why would he sign in later years when he's financially more secure and closer to free agency each year?

And it's even *more* baked into the cake with this year having a cap reduction.

By this logic, I was saying we'd never sign him *last* summer, so trade him, save 30mil, and start our 3mil QB who turned out to be pretty decent, and would have been better getting the starting snaps in camp.

Playing a year with a legit starting QB for 3mil is a cap advantage we passed up on.

If he was on the outs, and so was Rodgers, give me Rodgers then Dallas would get that Rodgers bias from the refs

if we don't like Dak's price tag....we won't Deshaun Watson's either if we traded for him.
we won't sign Dak so we'll trade for Stafford?
thats the plan?
no thanks.
sign Dak.
get our injured back.
get on with team building in the draft.
please and thank you.

Exactly. None of those scenarios are good. Deshaun is a good QB but it’s arguable we would be better with him than Dak and we would be giving up a pick in the draft AND taking on a higher salary. Rodgers is a great QB but he’s a short term rental and will want to compete right now. Derek Carr??? He’s ok. Stafford??? How long will he hold up.

Dak is the best option and it’s not even close.

Starting to think that dallas will let dak walk. Rams are already ready to move on from goff even though his 4y/134m extension is about to start due to his mediocrity and their cap situation. Philly trying to resurrect wentz with reich lite due that contract and their cap situation. Detroit moving on from stafford. hard to see dallas meeting dak’s price, and tagging again for 37.7m kills their cap for 2021. unless dak moves much more than jerry, it’s over. Jerry and Stephen seem unwilling to meet Dak’s market demands even though they met Lawrence’s, Jaylon’s, and Cooper’s, and then went above market for Zeke.

Dak holds all the cards, so he has no reason to budge.
