Charlton - Rotational LE.
Awuzie - Starting CB.
Lewis - Depth/Takes over slot role by end of season.
Switzer - Punt returner/gadget player
Woods - Depth/Special Teams
White - Depth/Inactive
Ivie - First team all rookie, pro bowl, all pro
Brown - Depth/Inactive
Carrell - Practice Squad
Pretty sound overall.

I think you underestimate Ivie's potential however.

I'm expecting more from Awuzie and Lewis than I am from Charlton in 2017. Those two will have their work cut out for them and I expect to see mistakes, but I think it's a little bit easier transition to the NFL playing DB than it is DE. Like another poster said, Taco, first, needs to play the run well and if he can do that he will get those extra snaps and then more opportunities to rush the passer.

If only a team can manage to implement their talent where they best perform, so many issues can be resolved. I think the Cowboys are facing that dilemma with several this year that could make a great difference in how the team responds. I don't expect anyone to be the likes of Von Miller with the Cowboys this year, however -- those types are altogether too rare.

I'm not 100% convinced there's a realistically close comparison between Taco and Hardy, however, although I'm extremely hopeful that the staff will find out about that soon enough. If there truly is, that'll be fine. I do believe Damontre Moore is solidly in the mix to compete for that RDE spot. Let's just hope the decision rendered is one that finds the best chance for success.

To be totally fair to Taco, he's just a rookie at this point who will require time and patience to prove himself. It's entirely possible that Taco could be rotated with Moore at times this year to keep both of them fresh and rushing the passer with maximum effectiveness. Just saying it's a possibility and not necessarily a prediction by any means. I believe the team's chances for improving their pass rush is encouraging.

Moore has the talent. No idea if he has matured.

The reports I saw indicated Crawford was practicing at LDE (not 3tech). The others:
Irving - Suspended
Taco
Moore
Tapper
DLaw
Mayowa

DT
Collins
Paea
Thorton

It seems like they have to move Crawford back to DT. If healthy DLaw would be LDE in that scenario.

That does leave Taco as the biggest of the remaining guys (If Crawford is DT only).

Moore will have to be really good and on good behavior considering the numbers (even with Irving out).

Yessir, I approve of this message (not that that distinction is a big deal) . . . but yes, I think Maliek Collins might have a year that most other D-linemen would relish. When healthy, Crawford is also capable of providing the kind of constant pressure that will at least cause QBs to rush their passes, which, as we all know, leads to good things, like picks. May his shoulder be fully healed beforehand.

Paea is a musclely-defined plugger and albeit a bit undersized rusher that will be effective for a time when he's in there. I'm also hoping Thornton gets fully integrated into our system enough to be fairly disruptive as well. If Tapper produces as he did in college, which was downright awesome, it could really be something to crow about. Needless to say, he'll be required to stay healthy.

If Moore behaves himself, there's no telling what one with his talent level might accomplish. I think perhaps he's beginning to realize, at this late stage, just what his future might be if he contributes as generously as his talents indicate. He's on the right track thus far -- let's just hope that it continues well into TC and beyond (and that his impulsive nature doesn't resurface.)

This year, we apparently have possibilities that we haven't enjoyed in like, forever (as far as a threatening rotation of guys capable of jointly comprising a legitimate pass rush.) I'm encouraged by the specter of all those things and would definitely like nothing better than to see those things pleasantly come to fruition in 2017. In short, minus the ifs, we have some pleasantly surprising possibilities!
