Bradie James - Getting Better?

Doomsday101;1587041 said:
James stopped the forward progress. I'm not saying James is some Pro Bowl stud I do think he is better than some around here are making him out to be. Right now he is with the 1st string D and if Phillips does not think he is the better option I'm sure Wade will replace him. We will just wait and see how it plays out during the training camp. Let me ask since you started this thread was it to get opinions or to just trash Brady James?
It was to get opinions. I was excited to see a slimmer Bradie James. However, I perceived him to be just as slow as last year and was wondering whether I was alone is this feeling.

This is ********...I can't beleive that people could think that Brady James SHOULD or COULD have gotten enough depth to prevent that Marvin Harrison play....Brady is a LOT better than you guys are claiming....

Clearly you just started this thread to trash Bradie James.

I think, even with less weight, there's only so much faster you can get. It's not like they were fat out there, and so a 1 quarter evaluation may look exactly the same - their top speed isn't going to change much.

It might become evident late in games, is my thought.

I'll say this James put up better numbers than his counter part in San Diego who was playing the more aggresive style 3-4 than James was playing in last year. I don't know what James will do in this new system but I guess we will find out.

I don't know if this is trashing Bradie or not... But if we had a vote, assuming everyone were healthy, who would the worst player on our defense?

Maybe Spears if he doesn't step it up, maybe Hamlin if he's as bad as Seattle's coaches seem to think... But my money is on Bradie.

That doesn't mean he's the worst player who ever lived. Bbut I still think he's our weakest link.

No one said he should have prevented the pass. He did look sluggish there, though.

Seriously, though, I thought he'd look a lot quicker. He was pretty quick coming out of college.

Per usual, you've completely lost me. I'm puzzled as to what the heck you're talking about.

Just got through reviewing the game (I was on vacation last week).

Dude still looks like the same ol' Bradie James to me -- slow and lost.

Sure he had the nice stop on short yardage, but he even looked bad against the run on a few plays other plays to me.

I didn't see much talk on this recently. Thoughts?

Your vacation is more important than watching a Cowboys (albeit preseason) game? Did you vacation in Thailand?

Also, who, besides you, would venture to proclaim a player still the same based on one meaningless, preseason game in which the rookies get a long look?

Or did you just get lonely and throw this up for our "thoughts"?

I proclaim your post as slow and lost.

Until James starts stinking it up, i'll let him redeem himself.

Caribbean. Sorry, no Fox where I was.

As for proclaiming he still looked slow in the preseason game, my guess is that all one would need to watch to proclaim such would be the preseason game.

On james, I never felt his problem was his speed, I felt it was his recognition. he was too sluggish in figuring out where he needed to be or what needed to be done.

I can't attest for this game, because I really didn't notice too much. i did feel that Ayodele made a few bonehead plays. But like I said earlier, i never understood the love for him after 2005, and I certainly can't understand it now.

I was referring to Stephen Cooper of the Chargers who plays the same position as James and looking at what kind of season he put up in a more aggressive style of defense and yet it was James who put up the better numbers. I think James will do just fine in this style of defense.

Why not? I'm tired of this ridiculous line that you can't tell anything from preseason games. It's simply not true.

YOU CAN EVALUATE INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE IN PRESEASON GAMES.
In all probability the staff can figure out what spares to get rid of after a single game, but that might be the extent of it.

Let's have at least a couple more before warming up the coal byproducts and plucking the the yardbirds.
;)

I'm almost positive that Cooper split time with Randall Godfrey, though. I thought Godfrey was starting until late in the year.

Godfrey did start the season and split time with Cooper. Combined they had 110 tackles 6 passes defended while James recorded 101 tackles 8 passes defended and 1 int. Granted in the attacking style SD used Godfrey and Cooper combined for 6.5 sacks.

Here is to hoping to see Spencer Carpenter Ayodele Ware starting for us sometime soon.

James seems like a great guy to rotate in on goalline, short yardage and first downs but Carpenter is the more rounded player.

Bulk of the snaps go to Carp and Ayodele. James rotates in on running situations and Burnett on the passing. Sounds like a great ILB platoon.

My wonder is that if Ellis can't come back, will they move Carpenter back into the OLB role rather than thrust the starting role on Spencer.

Caribbean? Nice.

Just funnin' wit you. I once proclaimed Walsh to be better than Aikman when i saw the lad toss the ball in preseason. ;)

I understand there are other dynamics at work but i wouldnt mind seeing the play by play guy announcing our starting LB as Spencer Carpenter Ayodele Ware thru 2010.

You do have a good point though. Without ellis we might need Carp to rotate all across the line to make it work. I still want to see that starting lineup at some point.

I hope it works out that way in the long run anyway - I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Spencer will live up to his expectations. Short term though I wouldn't be surprised to see Spencer sharing time and not starting.

Hell, if you listen to half the board here, Bradie James and Bill Parcells singlehandedly brought down the entire defense, while the rest of our silver and blue defensive "heroes" just merely victims.

Forgive me if I'm not drinking that Kool Aid.

Question ... if Bradie James is so inexplicably bad and only out there because he was a Parcells favorite, why is he still starting under Wade?
