Brandon Carr didn’t suggest putting it in a “3-inch headline” as former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson once did. But Carr wrote his headline Sunday night when he said he and the Cowboys are ready to “take over the league.”

“That’s going to be your headline,” Carr said knowingly.

To that end, Carr has lost 10 pounds and boasts that he is in the best shape of his life.

“I’m trying to take over the league,” Carr said while attending the team’s 10th annual Taste of the NFL to tackle childhood hunger. “I get emotional when I say that because I’m dead serious, man. I’ve been playing this game for six years now, and I’m just ready to make that jump and become that shutdown corner.”

One corner "wants to take over the league" and another wants to "make History" back 2 back 2 days of quotes 2 days in a row. What's next? Scandrick saying he guarantees a Super Bowl Victory?

...but I like it

Interesting journalism there. Carr's direct quote is “I’m trying to take over the league,” Gets changed to he and the Cowboys are ready to take over the league.Notice how even in the second quote only the second half of the sentence is in quotes? The ' He and the Cowboys are ready to.. ' is fabrication and says something very different from Carr's quote.

He does speak about the defensive unit in the plural as in "we" and "my guys" so I doubt its just an individual thing solely for him.

Yes, he is saying that the whole defense is looking to improve. But he never says the "bulletin board" material or shows the false bravado that is attributed to him. There's a big difference between "We are ready" and I'm trying"

He also said " I’ve been playing this game for six years now, and I’m just ready to make that jump and become that shutdown corner.”

Brandon Carr turns 29 today. It's nice that he feels <this> is the year he is going to turn the corner and become the shutdown corner that the Cowboys hoped they were signing for 5y/$50m 2 years ago.

This team talks way too much. Just shut up and play - no proclamations, no false bravado - just play.

Carr talks too much. It has been that way since his first day in Dallas.

Thank you. I clicked over to the Star-Telegram for the full article. Sure enough, the direct quote shows Carr referring to himself only.

If Carr says he was misquoted, Charean Williams can claim he talked about the rest of the defense. If Carr says Williams made an assertion, Williams can counter by saying Carr talked about himself and his defensive teammates. so the assertion was unintended, but understandable. It's a win-win situation for Williams and a catch-22 for Carr.

This is unnecessary sensationalism. The media should camp out for Jerry Jones to run his mouth. He tends to dig his own grave way too often whenever a microphone is in earshot. Often, there is more than enough material to publish without screwing up someone else's words.

First it's Mo now Carr. Good to know they are in the best shape of their career. Let's hope that translate to something positive on the field.

Can't say I get all this cheap talk.

Though, it would be nice to the defense finish at least in the middle of the pack.

Take over the league? jeesh

So let me get this straight.. nobody wants to hear any player state any lofty goals for themselves because their past performance has not been at that level? You would rather give the company line?.. Everyday we just try to get better, then we stack days together, it's a process.. yeah.. no thanks. At this time of year everyone should want to be the best at what they do, what's the problem with saying that, especially at a position the requires a high level of confidence?
