Brandon Gorin may be the one

From the DMN blog (& I read somewhere that Shanle is the our guy NE is looking at):

Good morning from Ventura...
Here's our schedule for today:

Bill Parcells at 11:30 a.m. and then practice from 2-4 p.m.

Todd Archer just told me he thinks T.O. will practice today, so we'll continue to monitor that story. We'll also see how Terry Glenn's blisters are doing. Oh, and several of you have asked which players the Cowboys might be eyeing on the Patriots' roster.

Here's a name that was passed along to me by someone who has followed the Patriots since the Fairbanks era: Offensive tackle Brandon Gorin.

Gorin, who played his college ball at Purdue, started eight games for New England last year and could provide depth behind Flozell Adams or possibly challenge for the starting spot at right tackle.

I realize this wasn't the name you were hoping for, but it's all we have at this point. Back in a few moments.

Someone (can't remember who) nailed this earlier. Props to whoever it was.

Yes and it makes yesterday's hysteria all the more amusing.

Well, maybe not foolish but VERY optimistic. But even shoring up the OL would be an improvement. (I was hoping maybe a current player & a draft pick for Branch might be workable.)

I think some people have grossly overestimated the trade value of Scott Shanle.

Gorin. Interesting.

If it is Gorin then Fabini is gone.

I would have expected an interior guy -- because if we start Gurode, and Peterman doesn't get it together very soon, then we are looking at Proctor as our only guard backup.

Dead on.

and what is funny is that most of the people who think we are going to trade shanle for branch or stallworth etc... are the ones who said shanle sucks and cant play at all.....now all of a sudden he has the value of a number 1 or 2 wr!!!

My feeling about TO have not changed and when the owner is on TV saying TO has to learn to practice even if he is not 100% and yes that is exactly what he said no spin just fact. As I said yesterday, please keep kissing his butt and making excuses for him and blaming everyone for picking on him. Yet is was nice to see you say well the story on Key was true while in the same breath attacking the media over TO, love how you pick and choose when it comes to reporters as long as it fits your view. Your a joke

Cool, I wouldn't mind an O-lineman one bit. Branch was simply not going to happen... Shanle for a Super Bowl MVP caliber WR... funny

Fabini will get his time against New Orleans but unless he is lights out, he might end up going on the "on-call" list.

I never said it was true. I said it was more factual than what people (and especially non-journalists) state concerning their belief that Owens doesn't like Bledsoe. Comprehension is your friend. But I forget, you really don't bother to try to read much. You are the person who flys of the handle and responds aggressively to post titles and not the content. Who is the joke again?

No, Shanle is God. Perhaps you've missed this.

Even so, even posters who did not post in the first person thought more of Shanle's value.

I'd be more than happy to get a guy that started 8 games for a division champion last year in exchange for a guy that doesn't have a chance to make our 53..

I agree with abersonc though.. interesting that it is a tackle we are looking at.. especially with Adams, Columbo, Pettiti, Fabini, and McQuistan all in the mix.. but like I said, I'd be more than happy with Gorin.. I'm guessing that we would keep Adams, Columbo, Pettiti, and Gorin..

I would also feel more secure with a veteran like Gorin who has been both a starter and backup. I also think he has played special teams also, so he gets the gold star for versatility that Coach Parcells loves so much. And he is still only 28.

Colombo is a great story, but still hasn't won me over. And we already know what we have with Rob Petitti. Gorin is an improvement over Fabini however.
