Even though he's better than any of our alternatives, I won't cry one bit if he is cut, simply because I won't have to see another Roy thread.

not if he's picked up by another team

he would be the new quincy

"zomg an INT we shouldn't have cut him!!!!!"

You would think, but there would still be some. Each week if a Dallas safety allows a play or two(and they will) there will be threads of "why did they cut Roy?"

I think it would be silly to cut Roy Williams in training camp. There is no great benefit in salary cap. The guy is still a good player. He may have some weaknesses, but he also has some strengths and some use for Dallas this season. After this season, then it may make sense to cut Roy, but not at this point. I'm betting he has at least 3 more years in Dallas before he calls it quits.

Anthony henry is gonna be the Free Safety of this team soon anyway,he has played the position before and Hamlin can play SS with no problem.Trade RW for a decent WR.

Henry has barely played FS and he wouldn't hold up. He barely makes it through a season as it is, how do you think he could hold up if he had to come up and tackle every now and then?

Don't we still get the occasional Quincy Carter threads?

Roy will forever be discussed.

Good.

Let's turn to Watkins (he sucked when he started), Brown (making a position change, completely unknown), or some schmuck Undrafted Free Agent S.

Woohoo!

Super Bowl or Bust!

Hey those are all better options than leaving a KNOWN weakspot in the secondary. He can't cover and he can't tackle anymore so why keep him. And don't argue semantics like every other thread on here about RoyW. He is not a top 10 safety in the league. I don't care what statistics you or anyone else pulls out. He has lost the intimidation factor that made him so great at the beginning. I say try someone else out. They can't be any worse. :banghead:

QC will never go away. He's a virus that shows up every now and then and infects the board.

Good idea.

OTOH, McNabb approves of this message!

difference between Julius and Roy is Roy is still productive. Care to explain how he "wiffs" tackles, this should be good for a laugh or two

Are Julius and Roy really that far apart on production? I think not. They're both decent players, but not great. And are you serious on how he "wiffs" on tackles????? Have you watched any games the past two years??? Remember back in Pop Warner when you learned how to tackle...what did the coach always say, "Wrap Up". He does'nt wrap up and that is how he "wiffs" on tackles. He misses a lot of tackles trying to lay the knock out hit!

Like I said...there is nothing wrong with letting decent players go....I don't know why everyone is freaking out like he's Ed Reed, or Troy Polumau or something! We've let plenty of players go.....ie. Jason Ferguson. I didn't see too many threads about that.....to me that guy will be missed!

My original thread, last week, was about salary numbers, since we had just signed Hamlin. The secondary payroll is outrageous.

Maybe some of you guys just went out and bought your # 38 jerseys or something.....then I could understand the fuss! :laugh2:

And when I started this thread up a week ago, "That I think he is going to get cut in TC" everyone was saying that there was 0% chance!!!

Brandt was obviously reading my thread. lol

Don't be surprised if it happens.

There is also a possibility that we trade him to Detroit for there RW. We will have to add in other players, but it could happen. Did anyone see Special Edition with Jerry Jones the other day???

He said that he could still see us going after one(WR) at the end of camp!

Everyone still thinks it's a stupid idea.

Why wouldn't Jerry trade Roy now while he still has some value instead of waiting another year to prove to the rest of the league that Roy really does have no right to be in the nfl? Trade him now while we can still get a 4th or 5th for him. :laugh2:

Seriously? We just signed Hamlin to a huge contract because we've been looking for a FS for 5 years. Now we are going to move him to SS so the guys we didn't trust to be back there (Watkins, scrubs) will be forced to play? Henry? I love Henry, but he is not durable.

Actually there very far apart. JJ has had one decent year, one great half season. And then subpar everything else. He has been injured almost every season he's been in the league. Has yet to make a pro-bowl, and ended up not starting the most important game last season. He has not been a game breaker since his rookie year.

Roy has been to a pro-bowl every year after his rookie year. He has been a game changer for at least the first 3 years he was in the league. He gained a reputation of being one of the hardest and fiercest hitters in the league.

Comparing the two already shows your bias but let's continue tearing this apart shall well..

There is nothing wrong with letting decent players go that are under performing. Roy is not a decent player under performing, he is a great player who has not been playing as good as he can.

Two People are not freaking out, they are trying to figure out why cut a 5 time pro-bowler that has multiple years remaining on his contract, when you get no financial break, and you would considerably shrink the depth of the S position.

Three we did not let Ferguson go, we traded him away, what many that you claim are freaking out, are asking for instead of cutting Roy

and lastly how you will miss him i don't know. He was an old player who just got injured, and last time i checked, Ratliff and Tank did a dang good job of filling the role.

Just because the payroll is "outrageous" doesn't give enough reason to cut a good player that you think may not be playing up to par.

I doubt anyone in this thread has bought a #38 jersey. I could be wrong though

Tell me you still don't believe in Pro Bowls????

Roy is a liability that has lost his confidence in a major position...Woody said it himself. Would you like to have our left tackle to be as shaky and lacking confidence like Roy???? Romo would get killed!!
