We run up the gut on 1st down.
We run stupid curl routes and junk on the outside

Remember Dez ran like 3 routes. That's coaching.

Why do you think Romo waited until the play clock was almost zero? He had to change everything Garrett threw out there.

In the redzone how many times did Romo throw the fade? That's all Romo. He practiced that throw. And the back shoulder throws too. That's Romo 100%.

I cannot stand the offense and defensive schemes. They are simple and rely on your guy beating their guy and zero creativity.

You aren't very bright are you?

It's almost like you're saying Dak couldn't have recognized what was coming and changed the play or called the timeout.

It's almost like your saying he couldn't have thrown it a click sooner to the spot they have practiced throwing that pass hundreds of times.

It's almost like your saying Dak has proven himself proficient at throwing those quick, tight window passes in congested areas.

You're not really saying all that, are you?

A click sooner? He had to throw the ball the millisecond the snap was recieved lol.

Still not a good reason to go empty within few yards of the goal line. That makes it too easy for the opposing defense.

Somebody was saying that Dak motioned Zeke out.. If that’s the case, was that a look by Dak that had him do it or what?

Nobody but Dak, Zeke and the coaches would know who made that decision. My point is, this type of crap has happened several times before Dak. Only common denominator is JG.

1. Horrible play call to begin with
2. Dak should have recognized the defense there. Take a time out or adjust the play
3. Once zeke motioned out it was literally a face palm / game over moment

Lack of coaching, lack of qb reading defense

Pretty simple

listen to Romo, he knew you had to go outside because they were coming. Dak still had a chance to throw to the inside of Witten, not to the outside where the DB was hanging out.

edit: Since the nfl.com site is managed by people new to the internet, just use this link and scroll down on the right side where they have the 2 point attempt

I watched the video again. You seem to think Dak had all this time to make all these decisions. He literally had a second, he's falling backwards. Instead blaming Dak for that play, lets blame the culprit here. Bad call Bad Scheme

Watch it again. He took a couple steps back and bounced around. Granted, the blitz was coming but he had 2+ seconds which is plenty of time to get rid of the ball. Why did he even move back? He knew where Witten was going to be. Why not take the snap and fire into the gut of the receiver right in front of you?

Beating a blitz by throwing quickly to the hot route has been done since the inception of the forward pass.

You don't have to wait until the play clock is almost out to call an audible. Plus, some need to quit acting as if frequent audibles were (or are) unique to the Cowboys. Any veteran QB is expected to call frequent audibles at the line of scrimmage. The entire point of audibles is the recognition that a coach on the sidelines doesn't have the advantage of seeing the defense across the line of scrimmage before calling the play the way the QB does.

If he'd thrown it any sooner Witten would have been tackled before the goal line and you cant step forward into the pass rusher. He stepped back because he knew they were coming, after wearing defenders all game.

EDIT: your right he could've let it fly half a second earlier and anticipated Witten being there. I really dont think he expected the blitz to get home so quickly.

If he had thrown it much sooner Witten may not have even been turned around yet.

I agree hed of just had to thrown it up and hope Witten turned around and saw the ball in time to catch it. Its such a short distance to travel though that seems highly unlikely. Bottom line is he needed another half second or so.

Should have moved the pocket in that situation. They should have known Williams would dial up a blitz.

Lmao!! :lmao2:

There was a guy draped all over him. Witten was the pure definition of being covered or not open. He was ready to knock any ball that came that way.
you can watch the replay. It's very telling when people are so quick to dismiss that players don't need to be 5 yards away from the next DB to be considered open when it comes to criticizing Dak.

Excellent breakdown on how inept the coaching staff really is. Greg Williams has blitzed in that situation for like 20+ years, everyone but Dallas knows what is coming. It’s like they don’t even try to scout the defense, just keep calling the same 4 plays no matter what.

When Garrett says we don't care about what the other team does and only about what we do, I want to slap him.

Hasslebeck does a breakdown in simple short terms. Carter drags on too much for me. Look,Martin blew it,or was coached in this situation we take the DE and let the LB come up front. He was supposed to slide in. Whatever the case...it was a poorly coached play. You can’t let a gap in middle stay that way. Just stupid. Hated that whole play. All of it....QB,line,target. Loser ball.

It really should have been pass interference. The DB was hanging on Witten while the ball was in the air. In any case, it was the untouched blitzing LB that was the problem on that play. Dak was forced to throw before he wanted to.

Was no reason not to roll out a mobile QB on that play. Could have ran whatever routes you wanted to. But get him out of the pocket where he has been killed all day... Most important play of the game and you leave him there knowing they will bring heat...

They may have been worried they would be roll Dak right into an outside rush - after all, our 2 backup O-Linemen were at RT and LT. Still, I like the idea of Dak being on the move in that situation where he has the option to run. Of course, he has had success in the past running up the middle on a QB draw - maybe that was supposed to be an option and the inside blitz blew it up?

Dak is the QB in control of the play once they're lined up. Call a timeout or recognize in general you won't have time. That was a safe throw to Witten, he hesitated under pressure and still threw a bad pass. Stop with the excuses.

So when their RPO got stuffed on the 4th and 2, was that a Garrett staple? Are all the red zone issues that go back with Dak, exclusively a return to Garrett calling plays?

What 4th and 2 was that? The only time I remember them going for it on 4th down they called a qb power run.
