become? we always have been. what happens in dallas is magnified far more than just about any other sports franchise outside the Yankees. the trouble is, the general public pick up on it and run with whatever stupid idea is tossed out there cause it fuels the jones hate. it helps get a shot in. it makes fans feel better to moan about the demise of their love of the franchise.

brent has every right to go through the process and if able, regain his position on the team. most of the people saying brent should bag groceries now would never hold themselves to the same standard they put before brent and hide behind "well the NFL is different".

it is.

but it's not.

if he can play, then he should be allowed to after going through whatever process is put before him to get back into the league. the courts didn't give him a life sentence, but many fans did.

and that's unfortunate.

Brent can’t visit the facility or participate in team activities the first six weeks of the season, according to a league release. He can return to team meetings and do individual workouts and conditioning in Week 7. He can practice by Week 9 if he complies with the conditions of reinstatement.
Any further law infractions or prohibited alcohol-related conduct will likely result in an immediate suspension and possible NFL banishment for Brent. He also must comply with court orders regarding probation, testing and monitoring.

I don't see any way this guy can help this team at all this year.

He hasn't played for what? A year or more?

While I'm still not in favor of Jerry bringing back a guy who screwed up a lot of times, I was surprised at the ten game suspension.

I guess the failed drug test, after that fateful night, added at least 2-4 games to the suspension.

Don't think the Cowboys need him, but, with T. McClain being injured all of PS, and Hayden still being on the team, I see why Jerry still wants him.

Everyone should be mindful that Josh Brent violated the drug policy and personal conduct policy.

Yep, I have no issue with the league office over the 10 games, I think he is fortunate to be back at all. I like the fact he has been working with Gurode not sitting around waiting and I hope he can make the most out of this chance he is getting.

Jerra will do anything for publicityness.
With this and now Sam, he will jack his interviews from 20 a week to 50 a week.
I weep for the future and for the days ahead.

Yeth. All he do is kill a mans.

True and spent time in jail, strange part Browns own mother has stood behind and supported Brent. I have no problem with 10 games, heck they could have said 16 game and I would feel he was still fortunate to get this chance. Now that he is getting it I hope he takes advantage with this chance

Gotcha..............thanks for the info.

I guess a 10 game suspension is better than a whole year, not sure how much Brent can contribute this season.

Brent must be all-universe lineman, because how else do you esplain this? He will half been out like 2 years and probably half no workout regime and will be winded just walking to the cafeteria ever day.
Like i say, first sam and now Brent. Jerra is such a publicityness hound.

If you guys have any confusion at all about how the team views the Josh Brent situation, I'd recommend listening to Garrett's comments on the topic in today's press conference. It's a good listen, even if you think you won't agree with him.

I listened to Brent's lawyer this morning on The Fan and it sounded like the appeal was more of the lawyer's idea than Brent.

When the lawyer was asked about the appeal, he basically tap danced his way through it saying that Brent was just happy to be back in the league but the lawyer was saying that it was unfair that he got that many games compared to Stallworth's case. (including Brent's retirement)

Well that remain to be seen. I wonder about in what shape he will show up after 10 games. Yeth, fat and slow but I wonder in what football condition or as the purists say in game shape.
I hate to say it but Jerra is being stupid. He doesn't need Brent, he just need the publicityness.

Only stupid I see is some of the comment, this is not about jerry. Yes Brent is getting another chance, he is far from the 1st player to get a chance. Cowboys feel he could fit well in the 4-3 defense as opposed to the 3-4 that he has played in when he got to Dallas. I guess you guys get your news from the national enquirer and eat up all the gossip BS.

I know he has been working out and trying to get ready not sitting around. However no amount of workout can replace game action. I expect at this stage that he will continue to work out as he has. In 7 weeks he will be allowed back at Valley Ranch and week 9 be allowed to start working out with the team and in week 11 comes off suspension. I don't know how he will fair, frankly I don't think anyone knows good or bad. Lastly I know any screw up by him, any failed test and the league will likely ban him. Balls in his court
