Brett Favre's advice to Tony Romo: Sit until you're needed

So after 10 years of consistent failures, you still think he can do it huh? What planet are you from, because earthlings know that after 10 years of trying something, all of a sudden you can't take a hit anymore, you can now turn into a Super Bowl champ with the likes of New England, Pittsburgh, and teams like Minnesota on the rise. Okay, gotcha.
I absolutely believe it. If Peyton can come back from a broken neck at an older age, there's no reason to believe Romo can't. Now I will wait for you to rebutt with some idiotic response about how you think I said Romo is as good as Peyton

Blah blah blah..Favre wouldn't do this..blah blah

None of which has anything to do w his actual point...hes spot on

News Flash: Peyton had already won a Super Bowl. Romo hasn't even sniffed one.

What does Peyton's first SB win have to do with the ability of an aging QB with an extensive injury history come back and play well? Stop grasping for straws

Also, blaming 10 years of not getting it done solely on Romo is not only shortsighted but flat out ignorant. Yeah we've had just STELLAR defenses the last 10 years

I think Favre's point is that replacing a QB who isn't struggling is a public relations problem. As soon as Tony has a tough game the unwashed masses would be booing him and screaming for Dak,,, and there are some really tough games on the horizon, much tougher than the cake-walk we've had so far.

Listen man, I'm not trying to rain on his parade, but if guys like Montana were replaced, AFTER WINNING 3 SUPER BOWLS. who is Romo? Romo has never ever ever ever won anything of significance here in Dallas, and I mean never. So why are we being so precious with his feelings? I'm sorry folks, I just can't help myself. I thought that the importance of watching football was to win something. Isn't winning the number one thing? And it's been two decades, that's 2 decades. 20 years, not even an NFC championship game.

No one said Dak can win either, but we've all seen what Romo can do and I personally am not impressed. I don't care about all this dynamic plays where people spin out of sacks and throws touch downs, that's one freaking play. It takes consistent QBing and a penchant to limit mistakes to win things other than the regular season. IMO, he's a walking injury waiting to happen, not to mention, he just doesn't have it, never has. It's not me speaking, it's 10 years speaking bro.

If you worked for me as a car salesman, and I you had 10 years to sell a car, how long will you work for me?

He could be absolutely right and I'd still think he was a hypocrit. No way he'd be cool with sitting aside and letting someone get the shine. He was a prick the whole time he and Rodgers were in GB together, but Romo should sit because Favre said it. That's hilarious to me. lol

Haters gonna hate,,,

I think Brett meant well. He's right about one thing--if Dak plays well and Dallas beats GB and then Tony comes in rusty the next game and plays like crap, the public reaction will be worse than nasty. I think we all know that. My take from it was that he was just trying to think of a way to sidestep that scenario.

What he doesn't realize is Tony has lived with that kind of negativity his whole career.
I think this is it too, he is just looking at from the perspective of what is best for Tony's public perception... but little does he know Tony doesn't give a crap about stuff like that or he never would have made it to the NFL.

Also, it isn't good for either quarterback to have Tony sitting there with his helmet on staring at Dak waiting for him to make a mistake.

What are you talking about man? You tell me one thing I lied about in my post. I hate losing, and I hate waiting a lifetime to even compete for Super Bowls. I want you to stop acting like Tampa Bay, or the Houston Texans and I'd like for more Cowboys fans to want more from their team. I hate that we settle for 8-8 every year and we're just hunky dory.

I'm talking about your irrational hate and misguided blame. Romo has never been the reason this team didn't go farther, he's the reason they got as far as they did.

Nobody is saying bring Tony back in and that's it were rolling with Tony from here on out regardless of performance. At least what I'm saying is give him a chance to win his job back and see how well he does with this running game and pass protection. If he plays like crap then by all means go back to Dak

Regardless of how you feel about Romo, the guy has literally given his blood, bones, and possibly quality of life as an elder to this franchise. The least we, as fans, and the rest of the organization can do is give him a chance

I'm just throwing this out there, I really don't know.

Should Tony have to meet a certain level of performance in practice before he returns? Or does he simply have to heal 100%?

do you want to know what Romo has as a consolation prize? A hundred million dollars. This franchise owes him nothing more.
