• Another underclassmen quarterback to keep an eye on is Wyoming's Brett Smith, a player I have long admired because of his competitive playing style. He reminds me a lot of a more controlled Johnny Manziel with his athletic improvising and gamer mentality to will his team to victory. With a coaching change at Wyoming, will Smith bolt for the NFL now? There is a good chance of it happening and if it does, look for Smith to be a popular day two prospect.

Another guy I am intrigued by.

He's an interesting prospect, no doubt. If we're going to go that route and take a small school guy and develop him, I'd rather have Garoppolo, but Smith's got really good athleticism which I like. He's a true dual-threat QB. Not sure about his arm-strength, although I think he can make most, if not all, of the throws. I know that he's a high-character guy too. Need to watch more game tape on him though to get a better feel.

Smith would be interesting in that, though he's a much better athlete, he could probably play a similar style to Romo. Might be a natural fit.

#Wyoming QB Brett Smith is a more controlled and better version of Johnny Manziel IMO. Terrific addition to this QB class #NFLDraft

Wyoming junior QB Brett Smith declared for the 2014 NFL Draft.
The Wyoming football program is undergoing a bit of change with the firing of Dave Christensen, now Utah's offensive coordinator, and the hiring of North Dakota State's Craig Bohl. Smith is a very intriguing talent, utilizing a combination of mobility and quick release. It might sound crazy now, but we wouldn't be surprised if some teams rank Smith over Johnny Manziel. NFL DRAFT, WYOMING COWBOYS

Add another quarterback to the list of possible franchise changers in the 2014 NFL Draft: Wyoming announced Saturday evening that Brett Smith will forgo his senior season and head to the pros.

Smith had 3,375 yards and 29 touchdowns to 11 interceptions this season. He also added rushing 573 yards and four scores on the ground. In a memorable Week 1 game against Nebraska, Smith had 475 total yards and four touchdowns in an unsuccessful upset bid, with the Cowboys falling 37-34. The team disappointingly missed a bowl game at 5-7, dropping five of its last six games.

The Cowboys fired coach Dave Christensen, who has since been hired at Utah as offensive coordinator, and hired North Dakota State’s Craig Bohl. Having Smith would have made Bohl’s first season a bit easier, but no one can fault Smith for leaving in a transitional time if he is getting word his stock is where he wants it to be.

I've watched some of his tape. He's an interesting prospect for sure. 6'3 and really athletic with a decent arm. I don't see how he's better than Manziel though. That's a stretch imo. And he needs to get a lot stronger. His slim frame couldn't handle the rigors of the NFL as is right now.

He is the MBIII of QBs. He isn't wired to not take on tacklers.
Boise State had a horrible defense this year, and they made him look below average.
He is a big reach for an NFL team.
