I think there's some misinformation being said in this thread. He NEVER said Price was better than Floyd. He said the state of the DL was fine due to the NUMBER of available DL on the roster.

He was more concerned about the state of the LB corp.

Marinelli knew what Price was long before the draft and long before he got here. So I don't think he and Kiffin were counting on nearly as much out of him as we were. Broaddus liked what he saw in him until he got tired as drives wore on.

But the homers were quoting it as gospel at the time. Kiffin knows best they said. I dint care one way or the other, he was never going to be a factor

I don't even remember it being said at all so I have no idea what you are talking about in the "homers quoting it as gospel."

another cowboy zone 'legend' flames out before he ever plays a down.:laugh2:

....he was a proven quitter and LOSER fellas and I told you all that at the time. We were HOPING he'd turn over a new leaf but he simply didn't want to. No big deal as we paid nothing for him . Sayonara Brian...good luck in the real world.

I still have no idea why people revel in the failure of others when that individual has done nothing to them.

He is reverting to the IR according to Archer so we will see.

This is what they were referring to:

BloggingTheBoys
Price is far and away the most interesting story of the entire DL group. Returning from a pelvic injury that makes me cringe just thinking about it, he is a former member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who drafted him in the second round in 2010. Although he is a bit short at 6-1, that has never been much of a factor. However, one problem he does seem to have is his temper. I have seen him compared to Ndamukong Suh in that respect, and I have been told the team is taking some steps in the offseason to help him get that under control. They are very interested in him and I was informed that Kiffin thinks Price is a better player than a certain Sharrif Floyd will be.

Everything you read on the internet is true.

There's no PS in the offseason.

Yes, but if he has shoulder injuries and is not good to go by the start of the season, the team may not want to keep him on IR. They may want to cut him now and then just try and re-sign him to the PS. If he goes to IR, he's done for the year and his salary goes against the cap. If he goes to the PR, then his salary does not go towards the cap.

I'm just trying to figure out why they made this move, considering possible angles etc. This move doesn't make a lot of sense right now.

he will go on ir as soon as he clears waivers. if he can get healthy then he can play this year. does'nt matter what kind of talent he has if he is injured

i don't think it matters till you cut down to 53 men. then if he is put on ir he is done for the year

While I respect the content that BTB produces, I'm not sure how plugged in they really are to the goings on at Valley Ranch.

If he goes to IR, he's done. The only way he can come back is if he goes PUP or gets signed to the PS.

I suspect that he will go through waivers revert to the IR and then he and the team agree on an injury settlement...and he will be a free agent.

I have a right to question the organization's drafting philosophy. Look at the last 17 years.

What does that have to do with anything? My mom's 72, and she can still teach circles around a lot of teachers I work with, me included. If 72's too old, what's young enough? 65? 60? 40? If you can do the job, age doesn't matter. If you can't, then it still doesn't matter.

How about letting the coaches coach and the scouts scout?

Parcells, a HOF head coach, wanted Spears over Ware at #11, but Jerry went against the coach. Result? The Cowboys draft a Hall of Famer.

IMO, there's a reason why scouting is a YEAR-round process.

It's possible, depends on the condition of the injury and what they actually think about Price. I mean, if it's just a matter of not long enough to recover, then they might work something out with him or they might just release him. That's why I asked the question of is he eligible for the PS?

I dont think he is

According to league policy, only certain types of players are allowed to sign to the practice squad. Players cannot have played more than nine regular season games or been on the active roster for an entire year, nor can players be allowed to spend more than two seasons on the same team’s squad unless that team’s active roster never dips below 53 players.
