Bringing home puppy on Sunday. any recommendations?

Cats are below dog-like pets, and even rodents, on the ladder of Things a Man Ought to Own. Unless it's a Maine Coon.

we have a Maine Coon. She's a bit older now and pretty much retired but in her prime, she would hunt and catch animals like I've never seen a cat do before. I'm talking wild turkeys, bats and rabbits by the dozen. And then right in front of you, she would consume her kills, bones fur, the whole darn thing. Freaked me out. I'm kinda scared of her......def don't let her in the bedroom when I'm sleeping! lol

See? Now that’s a pet you don’t have to be ashamed of. Not like a chihuahua that can’t eat a cupcake unless you break it up for them into bite sized pieces. Your cat goes Ozzy on something it caught itself, right in front of you. Just because it can.

Obviously you don't know cats.

You don't "own" a cat.

You become (if the cat allows) companions.

:D
Copy That!
I used to have nothing but gun/ hunting dogs ,they lived outside & I went on poo patrol once a week,,,I'd let them in the house up on the couch with me sometimes and wouldn't even have to drop the tailgate when I'd tell 'em to mount up,,,, but nowadays the CAT is where it's ato_O
( some of my dogs would've crunched a cat in a heartbeat, too)

Have fun with the new addition
@Zordon :thumbup:

I'm gonna look into the breed. Before this thread, I had never heard of Maine Coon. The fact that it can catch a wild turkey is incredibly impressive. Incredibly elusive bird.

she'd ambush them.......hide in brush and when they unsuspectingly wander by, she'd pounce! One time she jumped on a big one and rode on its back like a bull rider for a hundred yards.......was hilarious

That's amazing, Jack. Kinda like a lion riding a water buffalo to the ground!

Does this breed like swimming, being wet?

I'm not sure.....I've never seen ours swim but she has no issue being outside when raining. Other than her hunting adventures, she's pretty much like your normal cat.

Cats hate water, that's why I ask. But bengals need to swim.

Try giving a common house cat a bath and report back when you have claw marks on your back as that cat climbs up your arms, to shoulder, down back to get away from the evil they know as water :)

( also,I'd like to add, I had a bobcat that would crap on the roof, sun itself on top of the block wall& chow down on some of the javalina's refrigerator groceries the wife would throw out for themo_O)

Cats are sneaky and have no love for humans, not that l would hold that against them, but anybody that loves cats, suck ,and anybody that would have a cat over Man's best and only friend, sucks even more. The only good cat is a dead one. I saw a really great cat on the road today.:).

I've owned cats... I've owned dogs.

Cats are smarter.

Cats are sneaky.

They retain a certain independent streak which many cat owners treasure.

Cats can think for themselves.

Dogs think for themselves when they think about eating a cat turd.
