No way he clears waivers and stays on the practice squad for any length of time. Not when you have teams like Washington, and Indy. Plus look at all the teams that lack in quality depth, Houston has no one after Lamar. The raiders are already talking about needing a back up rb. Dolphins have 2 injury prone rbs. You could make a case for him with about half a dozen more teams. Hes played well against scrubs with scrubs blocking, but more importantly he has the tools scouts gush over. They need to move on from Dmac or Dunbar. Id hate to lose Dunbar but we all know he cant last through half the season.

They should cut McFadden. Morris is a vet so no worries there. I would cut Dunbar as well. Let the new RBs roll.

Hard to catch the ball, when you can't stay healthy.

Can't help the club in the tub.

That about sizes it up. Darren is the most likely RB to be released based on his age and injury history and Dunbar is a Jerry boy.

The RB position is fungible. You shouldn't rue Jackson types.

If he is claimed. He is claimed.

I'd at least like to wait until this last game before rueing so it can be proper rueage. Jackson should get the chance to showcase his skills in this game.

No need to cut him. Keep him on NFI in case Zeke or Morris go down. If everyone is healthy when he comes of NFI, cut him or trade him then. Simple! I don't believe his salary is large enough to be a major factor. Having him as an insurance policy for 6-8 weeks will be nice.

If this is to keep Dunbar around, that would be foolish. He ll be twisted into another pretzel within 5 games.

Broaddus give zero thought when answering this type of question. He just says whatever pops to mind immediately.

A magic 8 ball would be more accurate.

I have no doubt he will miss time due to injury; that was not my point. I believe Dunbar, as flawed as he is, can help this young QB more than DJ. DJ is going to have to go off Thursday and run for 150 yards with three TDs to prove he deserves a spot ahead of an already-proven Dunbar.

Of course all this speculation means nothing; Dallas may cut both players and choose to sign a vet RB (released due to age or contract) with more reliability but potentially just as effective in this offense.
Why would Jackson need 150 yards and 3 TDs in one game when Dunbar has never hit that mark and McFadden had only 3 TDs all year

The thing is you can't go into the season with Zeke and Morris as the running backs. If Zeke or Morris goes down your depending on Dunbar (who catches well but not much as a runner) and McFadden who both are injuried and most likely to get injuried again as backups.......nope

We are gonna run the ball and to do that you need running backs. Zeke and Morris are locks and will be the work horses. Then I would keep Dunbar for match-up problems as a reciever. That leaves Mcfadden and Jackson.....1 can practice and had been playing the other is nursing an elbow all offseason that still hasn't practiced all training camp.

4 RB's should be kept and it should be
Zeke
Morris
Jackson
Dunbar

It does not matter what Dunbar and McFadden have done or not done; they are on the team. If Jackson wants to replace them, he is going to have to do something more than what he has already done. That is, if the Cowboys have not seen enough.

He has shown more than enough to project as a very good RB. He will only get better and is too athletic to let walk. He has done well playing with 2nd and 3rd string OL. If he gets the chance with the 1st OL, who knows how well he may do. Way too much talent under control for pennies for the next 4 years to let walk in favor of one more year of McFadden.
