Broaddus breaks down Sam

Right now I would place him on the 53 man roster and release Spencer. Cowboys should make a statement and releasing Spencer and putting Sam in his place would be a good move IMO.

Was this some sort of joke? Statement? What?

What is he even watching? Sam has really long arms for how tall he is. His arms are 33 3/8 compared to the 4 inches taller Clowneys 34 1/2.

I'm hoping he's like suggs and dumervil harrison , short guys with long arms that give big tackles issues because of leverage.

What I have noticed though, he's not very quick with lateral movement, seems when he's trying to tackle he's playing in mud. Missed a bunch of tackles.

IMO never seen Tyrone Crawford do any of that, of course, haven't seen a breakdown like that.

IDK I hope he can contribute and crack the lineup as a situational guy. But I gotta say, I see a lot of things that BB covers up in that highlight reel.

I'm not too down on our de yet. Still haven't played a game but I'd like to see what Sam can do. All the hype for a horrible reason. Don't care if he's gay straight black white purple orange Spanish Russian. Doesn't matter get to the damn qb

What statement would be made?

To me it would seem to say that our talent level at the DE position is so bad that a guy that couldn't even make the Rams or any other teams practice squad is good enough to be on our 53 man roster.

Darn, he's gotta have something. SEC defensive player of the year in 2013!
(As an aside note, three of the last six SEC defensive players of the year now wear the star! May not be saying much with Mo Claiborne, and Ro McClain and Sam still haven't taken a snap in a game that counts, but hope springs eternal!)

"We're dumb."

w/o starting argument, I'd have to agree. some people just lob out ideas w/o thought or knowledge of the situation in an effort to "do something" even if that something they're doing is counter productive in the long run.

Note also that he posted that drivel and ran. Purely a "let me see what kind of reaction I can get" post.

I think its possible that broadus isnt as bad as most here think. I never noticed a problem with him when i wasnt yet part of the mob here. It really makes me reconsider my stances on some other media types around other teams i follow.

Broaddus has some abilities but tries to do too much and gets into things that he's not good at.

He can look at film and do a decent job of analyzing a player. Everything beyond that is a mixed bag.

Yep, Dumerville and Suggs arm length is 32". Sam's arm length is average or better.

There is some of that.

But based on Sam's preseason I find it amazing there are supposedly 300+ better players on practice squads spread over 31 teams than what Sam is.

When Sam was released I assumed that he was going to go to the Rams PS. But, I was hoping he would get on the Cowboys PS because when I watched him play he looked like a DE that Marinelli would prefer to have.

I don't think it's Sam athletic skills or his off-the-field interests that caused him to not be picked up for anyone's PS prior to Dallas Signing him... It was the media circus that teams were afraid of.

again, average fan in here. most of what is said has been said 10,000,000 times already but it still gets a reaction.

kinda irritating.

That would be a great point if it weren't obvious that teams avoided him for other reasons

I think on all but maybe 1-2 cases that's likely true.
