Broaddus: Cowboys will be looking hard at other teams cuts

Well, if they are so good, why are they available?

People get on Mickey for that comment but there's some truth to it. You don't see Peyton Manning's or Tom Brady's in free agency lol. And if you do they must've had their legs amputated or something.

What makes you say that?

Lee: Gone

Scandrick: Gone for 4 games

Holloman: Career over

Demarcus Lawrence: Gone for maybe half the season

Spencer: Who knows when he'll be back at full strength

Carter: Not living up to expectations

Matt Johnson: lol

Okoye: Injured

That's fair and reasonable but every team has holes due to injuries and failed drafting at a position.

This is true. I'm just simply stating why this team is looking for starters for certain positions while other teams are looking for depth.

That's 5 potential starters that are gone for a minimum of 4 games. Furthermore, there are starters from last season (Heath, Hayden) who aren't even guaranteed to be on the final, opening-day roster.

The problem with Bowers is he's a lot like the guys they already have in that he's a better pass rusher moving inside on the nickel instead of the edge rusher they are missing.

Seems to me all this worry about not having a big name rusher can be overcome by a coach like Marinelli.

Certainly he has safeties and cornerbacks that if he has to add them to blitz packages should be effective.

Marrinelli is going to have to be aggressive in his defensive play calling.

Without star quality on the defensive side unlike with the offense..

Marrinelli can't sit back and and be conservative..

the defense will be eaten alive.

It's really a chess match .

Is Marinnelli up to the task of being able to cobble together a respectable defense with his clear stamp on it?

I'm not sure.

This makes no sense.

Anthony Spencer will line up on the right side until Lawrence returns

B. Carter is having a good Camp, R.McClain is practicing well, K Wilbur getting better, A.Hitchens having good camp (4th rd)

At Safety we have Barry Church and JJ Wilcox

at backup we have Ahmad Dixon and Jakar Hamilton, Jeff Heath

Were not dumpster diving for starters...just depth like everyone else. I think we add another LB with Holloman going down.

Nothing Broaddus says is meaningless unless he says Parnell is a good player.

Jerry Jones isn't the guy "dumpster diving". There are guys in the front office who do the heavy lifting. They are definitely going to be looking for impact players along the defensive front 7. The interior line is probably set but defensive end and line backers are far from set.

Why would the Bucs be cutting Da'Quan Bowers in the first place I ask cause
I dont know are they stacked at LB out their
Bowers is a RDE and is playing behind a very good Michael Johnson (former pro bowler from Bengals)
TBs entire defense is pretty stacked, and the front 7 is strong.

It's pretty depressing actually. Look at their depth chart and of the 11 starters, they may be better than us at 10-11 positions.

But I'd think they could still use Bowers

I think their looking to improve the final 53.
If they lucked I to a starter they wouldn't turn it down, but I think it's more for depth.

I have a feeling that other teams will also be looking through the Cowboy's "dumpster." Byrd, Boyd, Newsome, and Briscoe will all get looks from other teams if cut. Benford might even get a look from some teams. Weems and Parnell would draw some interest from other teams if cut. Even Matt Johnson would probably get a look. Strange as it may seem, even some of our DL if cut might get a look (e.g. Minter, Boatright, Wilson, Rayford, Bush, Bishop or Coleman, Hayden). The Cowboys have some tough cuts to make. I am sure other teams are in the same boat.

There is going to be a lot of talent floating around out there after cuts. It is tough sorting through it. A lot of guesswork will be going on by all teams. Some of these cut players with talent just need some more time to hit their stride and blossom. Some talented cut players just got caught in a numbers crunch due to injury at some other position and had to be let go. Sometimes a team was so stacked at a position, the cut player really didn't have a chance to make the roster. Injuries may have robbed the player of valuable practice time.

Does 'every team' have holes everywhere on their entire defense?

This thing is shaping up to break it's own records for futility.

Let's not minimize this train wreck in the service of fandom.

Have you read Bob Sturm's in-depth analysis on the Cowboys' blitzing futility last year?

If not, you should check it out.

Informative and sobering.

Wow.

Hope springs eternal...

Lovie essentially claim out and said he can't hold a roster spot or give one away to a player who can't get on the field. Bowers is hurt...which makes you wonder why fans are clamoring for him here.......

It the Pro-Garret built in excuse. We have all this talent if they can get healthy.
