All Kellen Moore has to work with is a bruised and broken Zeke, a fraud QB in both Dak and Rush, and meddling WRs.

I say we run an experiment. Get the Chiefs OC here, trade Kellen to KC for a game. Let’s see who’s capable of scoring more points. Kellen needs legit talent to work with.
Moore has plenty, we are wasting time with this buffoon just like Garrett.

Considering Andy Reid was able to
  • Take one of the most inaccurate starting QBs in McNabb to several NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl
  • Take a QB who only had 1 post season appearance in his first 8 years in Smith, to a QB that made the playoffs 4 out of 5 years
  • Has developed a QB that most people did not expect to be a great QB into the best or 2nd best QB in the NFL
Oh ya. I would take a Reid for KM swap any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

Hell, I would take Eric Bieniemy, who is listed as the "offensive coordinator", just because he came from a Non-Jason Garrett coaching tree.
I don't know if he would be better than KM or not, but at least we would get rid of all remnants of the Garrett stench.

So no matter what, win-win, even if it is only for a single game.

He 100% has a point. Enough of the Kellen Moore offense. We need new energy from a coaching standpoint on that side of the field

Broaddus, Shan, and Bobby Belt start off discussing WR trade targets, but Broaddus detours into a rant about the offense. Says there's still a lack of creativity compared to other offenses. OC not utlizing enough concepts to get WRs open in space. Route combinations don't maximize WR strengths like KC/Buffalo. Doesn't seem too enamored with trading for a WR if they're just going to inject him in a system that is not WR friendly.

Does he have a point? Or is this just a result of poor QB play?

Seems like a lot of folks have a problem with Moores offense and play calling.

Lack of creativity is not nor has it ever been Kellen's problem

his problem is being too creative in situations that don't require it......his problem also is he has very little feel for the game.

kinda like trying to milk the clock and you call a reverse which the lions have speed to the outside all game instead of running it up the gut where we had most of our success

This offense should be a well-oiled machine by now considering how long Dak and Kellen have been together.

But you have a QB who goes through spells of not being able to process the field and anticipate throws, and an OC who for some reason lacks the creativity to create route combinations that facilitate open WRs. It's not a good combo.

THIS.
A Jerry picked Garrett clone OC tutored under Linehan and Garrett principles who supposedly was gonna integrate Boise St. Concepts into his offense.
And THEN there's the QB of whom your description is accurate. Well mostly, because these are not spells he goes through. This is who he is.
So, from Jerry's point of view its just a matter of time before his hand picked McVay and Jerry's version of Mahomes combine to tear up the league.
Just wait...I mean, can't you tell how both OC and QB are flourishing together? No. 1 offense last year!
Dak himself said Moore was a genius remember. If anybody should know it's as gifted a QB as Dak should know.

We still gotta get Moore promoted to HC and Dak another mega extension first.

One step at a time.

Patience people, geez. It's only the 7 year mark.

LOL

Yes Kellen Moore is Jason Garrett 2.0. We do not scheme to get our WR's or a specific WR open like the Bills and KC do. We just line them up and say be the coverage.

Look how we use Pollard. Pollard is a weapon. Turpin should be used also to utilize his speed and quickness in space. We don't really use him at all on offense.

Yep...very true with regard to Turpin. He should be getting a few touches a game outside of punts and he's not. When he does it's a lame reverse fer crissakes. Get him in the slot and the flats and create mismatches. It's not that hard.

Correct...dude is inexperienced and he's showing it. Growing pains I'd prefer not to go through frankly.

Perhaps the WR's that Moore has to work with are simply limited. The fact so many point to Dallas having the #1 offense in 2021 and what was heading for a similar direction in 2020 somehow blame him for being a terrible OC? I just do not understand that in the least.

I don't think he's "terrible." In face I think he's pretty good.. He just has several glaring weaknesses that will always doom the Cowboys if he doesn't get them corrected.

1) He hates running the ball.. He has admitted that as a former QB he would prefer to throw it every down. You see that in his play calling. He said it himself, "yards are yards." He's 100% wrong about that.

2) He has a penchant for getting cute at inopportune times. The end arounds in the red zone need to be removed from the playbook.

3) He lacks overall feel for the game. His play calls against certain looks and down and distances are too formulaic. Especially the route combinations. Every good DC in the league knows which routes we favor in 3rd and medium and can literally send their coverage to where they know our receivers are going and wait for them to get there.

4) He absolute fails to take advantage of favorable matchups. The Cowboys should come into every game knowing which DBs can't cover which receivers or which D-lineman can't hold up against our offensive linemen. Yet we start every game "feeling out" the opposing defense. It's absolutely maddening.

I have always maintained that generally when we see a great play from this offense it's a result of one of our players doing something super human.. and rarely the scheme creating said play. Not that it doesn't happen.. but not enough IMHO. The reason the offense has been #1 is talent.. Zeke, Pollard, Coop, the line, CD, Gallup and yes.. the QB are some talented MOFOs and when they play teams whose DCs are NOT as smart as Kellen Moore and who are less talented they can boat race them. When the talent is at or above the same level and the coach IS smarter than Kellen Moore, the guys can't overcome it.

Or maybe it would be easier if we just run all the same plays that the Chiefs ran during their SB win. By the time the Bears figure out what we are doing it will be late into the 4th quarter. Dak Prescott would look just like Mahomes and Ceedee would look just like Tyreek Hill.

One key thing that I’ve noticed for years that drives me crazy is that the Cowboys rarely change up the timing aspect if their offense. I didn’t see it under Garrett, or Linehan, and I rarely see it under Moore. Seldom do the Cowboys run a ‘quick-hit’ type of play where the quarterback gets the ball out very fast.

They always seem to have that same pace which allows defenses to better know what to expect and what not to.

You mean like how Green Bay uses Aaron Jones in short yardage situations, they hike the ball before the defenses are set?

Andy Reid has won 1 SB in 23 seasons as a head coach. If he was coaching here the last 23 years with those results CowboysZone would have been screaming for him to be fired a long time ago.

You say this as though it's a bad thing. There is one coach in the entire NFL who has won more than 1 superbowl, with only a handful who have been to multiple bowls and championship games. Reid falls into the latter. As does McCarthy. I'm pretty happy with that resume.

Sure. But I mean varying offensive tempo in general. Our tempo is very predictable. A shame because Moore actually WAS changing things up early on.

I didn't say it was a bad thing.

What I said was, "If he was coaching here the last 23 years with those results CowboysZone would have been screaming for him to be fired a long time ago."

Do you disagree?

I do understand the concern. It often seems we run routes that are "independent" of one another & are more hoping someone wins due to talent than scheming the defense into a compromised position.

The pass to triple coverage past Sunday is a perfect example of this. Gallop ran a in which made the safety on his side go toward Lamb. Had they had MG run a go route, he would have taken that safety toward the sidelines instead.

The offense problems lies in four area's

1- Kellen Moore route trees and conservative uncreative play calling.
2 - Running back usage
3- Outside Speed difference making receiver
4 - Dak Prescott poor reads, late throws, holding on the ball far too long

I used to be against blaming the OC but look at those route concepts in those videos of Dak vs the Lions

Im not seeing anything creative at all.

Even with a route runner like Amari Cooper, it makes no sense that his last 100 yd game w Dak came week 1 in 2021
