I agree.

As I said before it's one of the reasons he has grown on me. He puts the time in for the fans.

I've thought less of him over time. He's a spokesman for the team now and rarely answers a question directly. Probably because he doesn't know the answer but wants to continue this facade that he's in the know.

TRANSLATION: He doesn't say what I want to hear.

The truth was lost in that translation.

He doesn't say what I want to hear because he doesn't answer the questions posed. He talks around the question. Rarely ever really addressing it. He's got an agenda to defend the team and to protect his own insider ego.

He's just not someone I'd put a lot of weight into his opinions. Sturm is a much better and more honest brain to pick.

I really don't think you listen to him much. On his shows he's actually pretty hard on the Cowboys/Jerry a lot of times. Just recently he did not like the board video being leaked and blamed it on Jerry and has also said that having a GM like Ron Wolf who actually scouts players is the way to do it rather than have a GM that only knows the players from reading the scouting reports.

Far from a yes man.

:lmao: Risen Star claiming someone else plays the facade of being in the know.

This is straight up BS. He slams players just like anyone else but he is this only guy I see at DC.com that levels criticism at the Jones and does it in a clear, objective and empirical manner.

Specifically he has talked about how Jerry does not spend the entire season evaluating players like other GM's do. He pointed out working with Ron Wolfe and how Wolfe would spend the entire season looking at tape. The Jones don't and that gives an advantage to the Packers.

He's a clear homer for the scouting department --little surprise-- and he talks about how the Jones make decisions. ABotu how they put the board together etc.

This thread is about his criticism of Arkin for Chuck's sake.

What he doesn't do is spam mindless cliches like some do with the "DERP TRENCHESSES DERP DERP."

If they ever made the effort along the OL that they do CB, the issue would be fixed. Romo's clock is ticking. We are wasting his career with this slop up front.

You prioritize it, Mikey.

Like Tennessee. Signing Levitre and drafting Warmack?

@risen star. Maybe you should call Sturm and ask him who he talks to on a weekly basis. Would you like his number?

Funny how everyone gets upset with BB and on whether Arkin is or isn't a player. Broaddus gets a lot right but also misses the mark on quite a few things also. He does speak his mind which you sometimes like and sometimes hate.

And like any scout or analyst, he will change his mind if a guy suddenly shows more than he thought or shows less than he thought.

As to Arkin, it is time he puts up or is cut. He was running some with the 1st string in OTAs but have to see if it is going to be enough. Personally, I hope he gets every chance to make it because I don't want to see him cut then go to some team and be an all pro for six years like Peterman did.

Training camp should give the answers.

I learned from a very wise man that if 50% of the people hate you and 50% of the people love you in this business....you are doing alright...thanks for your words...

Like Risen Star, I am a Sturm fan too, but I think you do your job well. Since the subject of the thread is Arkin, I have a question. Do you think the Cowboys have wised up and realized games are won and lost in the threnches? I think their approach to team building has been bad in the past. They built from the outside in rather than the inside out. Do you think that approach is gone? You may disagree, but as a former olineman and line coach, I value the lines as much as any positions on the field. For the last several years they have fielded a combination of jags and low talent cast-offs. There are many fans that knew that wasn't going to work. Has things changed for good or will they continue upgrading?

There is a lot of merit to what you have said and what you are thinking. There clearly has been problems with how they have gone about adding offensive linemen to this team. I talk with the scouts about it everyday and they understand its something they have struggled with as well. I dont believe they have put their heads in the sand and think it will fix itself. They were willing to draft one of those OGs if they had the chance. When Pugh went off the board, they lost another shot there. To their credit they did address the center position despite giving Costa a small extension. In free agency, they liked Calbo but good or bad they thought he was simliar to Free, again good or bad. They didnt like Winston or Moore who I myself have studied on tape and I tended to agree. I will say that I liked Clabo better than Free. What they cant do is just add players that are the same or below talent wise, that does no good.

But he's a billionaire that owns the Cowboys. Hate on.

I am in the 1%.
But the billionaire part is responsible for a lot of the hate to be sure.

I'd LOVE to be Jerry.
I'd GM the Cowboys for beer and pizza money... much less own them and have the gig.

This is great stuff, by the way. The bit about Moore, in particular, who I had figured they probably did like and who was an obvious fit if we had a veteran OG spot available.

Moore was the victim of the famous butt tackle/fumble on Sanchez.

Wilfork abuses people regularly but that was just nasty. He obviously had some pride and played better if you believe the various metrics out there but all in all for a couple seasons he has been in decline if you read the Jets fans take of him.

Clabo, I know had one atrocious 4 sacks game. But I haven't heard anything or seen anything in the playoff games to suggest to me he is Doug friggin Free. Maybe we graded Clabo on 1 bad game and Free on his 3 or 4 good ones at the end of the year.

It basically sucks 5 OL went before 18... not sure what other take to have on this OL. Paying free agents have been a pretty soft use of cap dollars unless you go back to Kyle Kosier. Drafting them has been even worse....
