I think we are gonna be stuck with a decision next year. Spencer could probably come back next year at a fair price, and i think we should. It would be about time that we had a underpaid Good Veteran instead of a Great OVERPAID one...

I just read that too; and was also impressed by the fact there were so many defenders near the ball when Forte fumbled. This is exactly the kind of effort a defense short on blue chip talent needs to play with; and to see it pay off was nice. That fumble was arguably the turning point in the game.

agreed and back to my point its just that kinda Verteran Player this team needs, i feel like he could help this defense in the future i dont know if The coaches and JJ feel the same way.

If he doesn't fumble on the play people would be criticizing how Forte was able to take that short pass to the 50. All those guys were there bc they were chasing him, no one was covering him prior to him actually making the first down on that play.

It was a good screen, and a great call.......since Kiffin/ Marinelli , defensive turnovers had become a strength of this team, can u imagine if we could conjure up a decent pass rush

Spencer is a pretty good effort guy but he has 33 career sacks and wanted large money not long ago.
At his peak he was probably Pro Bowl caliber but that was across from Ware.

At this point with .5 sacks and really providing ZERO pressure he is part of the problem.

I'd bring him back on a very cheap deal but he'd have to work to make my team next training camp.

i agree with you, i just dont think your giving spencer enough credit, He does a nice job filling his gap while containing the outside. And had a nice strip downfield on a screen pass... impressive for a DE??

that was spencer first play he made this year. You absolutely don't bring him back.

was it?? or was that the only play u noticed??

He has 1 forced fumble on the season and a HALF sack.
That's simply bad production.

He could be much better next year as he regains power and conditioning but this year he has not been good.

Was I the only one unimpressed by Spencer's effort in pursuing that play? He basically gave up 10 more yards after he got completely turned around by Forte. Once he did catch up, he managed to cause the fumble.

He got turned around the same way against Philly, and McCoy didn't fumble. It seemed like the same play that Philly ran on Thanksgiving.

I'm wary on bringing him back unless it's on the cheap. He has too much of the 'old regime in him', such as when he was laughing when we were getting beat by Philly.

I vote to bring him back for the veteran minimum or very close to it. I'd take a veteran minimum base salary with performance incentives for Spencer. Anything but that would be overpaying, I'd rather spend the money on someone else. Spencer as a backup/depth guy is good. Relying on spencer to be a productive starter and paying him so is bad.

I wouldn't bring him back even he gave back part of the money he stole from Jerry. He's a bad fit in a 4-3...

Spencer is done. Not even worth vet min @ this point unfortunately. This is how you get stale in the first place. Cut bait and move on...McClain/Mincey/Hayden/Selvie same deal but team is so low on talent there. Would any team trade even a 7th for these players?

I agree with all of this. These guys should all be gone as soon as possible. I kinda like McClain because he seems pretty danged athletic in spots for his size, but Hayden, Selvie and Mincey are JAGs of the highest order. Spencer is done too.
