That 2001 defense might be on of the worst ever which sounds weird because at 31st you might assume that someone had to be worse off that year but that's not the case. There were only 31 teams that year and Indy allowed 486 points which has been surpassed by only 3 teams since that time. That's 30 points per game back when the league average was 20. Relative to the league average, it's the worst performance since 2001 by allowing 1.5X the league average.

That was the year of the infamous Jim Mora playoffs rant. If you listen early on he says "don't blame that one on the defense."

That year his son Jim Mora jr was coaching the defense. Mora Senior was getting pressure from the front office to fire or strip his son of power because they were so bad defensively. Then Mora senior gets defensive about his sons coaching and in that rant he ends up throwing Peyton Manning under the bus.

Of course he did - that is what ALL GM's do. You don't announce a firing months in advance - that is simply not how it works. Ask Shanahan.

Not for anything, but I like Garrett. As a person, I hope he stays, but as a coach, I don't see any progress in this team over the 3.5 year span.

That being said, there are certain individuals here that have staked their claim they are some sort of insider and "in the know" would have to eat huge plates of crow if he gets canned.

Someone mentioned Jim Mora earlier... I liked his other rant when he was still with New Orleans. "You think you know, but you really. don't. know. And you never. will."
