Broaddus tweet re Leary

Whether or not other teams interviewed him or not. It was quite clear that this team did not have him ranked that high for them. Heck it was even mentioned multiple times by Broaddus that they had little interest in him PRIOR to the draft.

So again it makes no difference when he was taken, who took him, whether ZBS teams looked at him or Man Blocking teams looked at him.

He was not going to be taken by the cowboys in the first few rounds.

Complaining about it now does nothing other than stroke your own ego.

Or in other words...

fair enough...

ok go ahead and discuss...lets see what you got. you came into the thread quoting me so maybe you should heed your own advice.

by the way it would have been nice to get an answer on whether you knew about zbs teams interviewing warford pre-draft.

I know they didn't draft him, so your point is irrelevant.

when you make these points about the cowboys drafting you are ignoring some glaring facts:

1. the cowboys FO does not know how to evaluate talent
2. the cowboys FO has no idea what they want their team to be so they try to copy ideas off of other teams like the 2-TE from the Pats etc. they are completely reactionary.
3. the FO never saw a TE they could not over-rate
4. the cowboys FO does not believe that OL actually requires a plan and a concerted effort to build

you are responding to people whose lack of understanding of football leads them to say that the cowboys prioritized fixing the red zone offensive problems and follow it up by implying that picking up a third TE who cant get on the field is more important to red zone offense than a 10 year starter at OG would be

of course short yardage running would have nothing to do with the red zone offfense:rolleyes:

these same posters have been arguing against OL and DL for years

To be fair, none of your points make much sense. It's hilarious to watch which posters play overreaction one-upmanship.

No you will not have to watch a thread get derailed. YOU are the one who CHOOSES to read the thread, nobody is forcing you, nor are they forcing you to complain about something instead of ignoring the users.

Complaining about it while not putting them on ignore does nothing and is annoying.

So you are just as equally guilty as annoying people.

I honestly have no idea what you're taking about. I opened this thread to read (1) any update on Leary's condition and (2) intelligent analysis analysis regarding a contingency plan in case Leary can't go. I found neither because a couple posters have to inundate the board with their constant whining about Warford, and everyone responds to them.

I am sure that Bernadeau starting on the line didn't concern you . You was happy with the starting line from last year. I disagree that a backup TE is more important than a starting guard . I am sure Romo disagrees with you as well.
idgit is one of the primary pollyanna's as regards the O line. He truly would have been fine with Costa, Bernie and company from last year for this year.

Bunch of retrospect in this thread. This thread should be about Leary's knee condition, not Escobar in the second. The team did a TON to improve our OL situation in the offseason; they drafted Frederick, signed Waters and promoted leary. They made Free a good contract. It sucks that Leary's knee is injured, but at the same time, devoting every single one of your resources to one thing is also foolhardy.

In other news, there are a lot of players on this week's injury list.

Last week was a complete disaster for the league as far as injuries are concerned. I don't know that I've ever seen that many big names done for the year on a single week.

1. Having two starters on the team who were drafted in 2013 kind means that maybe the FO does know how to find talent. In fact, all but one of the starters on the OL were found by the current team and, I have news; the OL is currently a position of strength for the Cowboys.
2. One of our most explosive and effective sets has been S02, followed by S11. I would say our offensive identity is very much our own. The rumours of the the base "two TE set", IMO, have been vastly overblown, considering we use S11 FAR more than two TE sets now adays.
3. That is very true, although Martellus Bennett seems to be living up to his expectations now and was an excellent blocker for us.
4. Refer back to number 1. This point is dead wrong and ignores the current state of the OL. Our OL is suddenly VERY good and VERY homegrown. It has been strategically built over the last 2-3 seasons, is very young and actually pretty deep. Bernadeau is a lousy starter but a solid depth guy.

You're creating some good posts in this thread, IMO. The fact the ZBS teams did look closely at Warford and passed on him was a good point. Everybody had a chance to draft him since he was a 3rd rounder.

So is Leary out this week ? I stil dont see any report on him

He sat out practice yesterday because of his knee. As my five-year-old daughter tells my ten-year-old daughter though, "Man up!"

I think todays practice the final one of the week will give us a better clue on Leary situation. Could be that he had some soreness and the Cowboys staff choose to have him rest it but with today as the final practice I think if Leary is out there then the likelihood of him playing Sunday is pretty good

And do we know if it's the degenerative knee? Wasn't it the other knee that was scoped during training camp?

I think we need to discuss what would have happened if we had drafted Larry Warford. What do you guys think?

So tired of the Escobar discussion. The team hit on almost every draft pick. It was a good draft and it is over. You cant go back a redraft. Let it go...

That's a valid point.

I would have like to have seen the Cowboys draft Warford. And at the moment the choice of Escobar doesn't look good BUT 3 years from now... who knows?

I don't know, this could be just precautionary due to some soreness I really do not know I do think his participation at practice today will give us a clue if he will be able to go Sunday.
