You would want to sign a guy, who is out for the year, after celebrating a sack?

it was a joke............btw, what do all 5 players have in common..............I will save you the time and research.

sign JPP or Brandon Graham, draft a de in the first round, and dont take the melton option, crawford will be better than him next year

Suh probably will probably get 12M+ per year.

He would better a better value at 12M than Melton at 9M, IMO. Melton is playing slightly over 30 snaps per game. Suh plays over 60 per game.
$12 million per? I was hoping something like 3 years, $30 million would seal the deal. He is a beast. Would love him in Dallas.

It's highly unlikely that Lovie is going to firer Leslie Frazier after 1 year.

That would work to our advantage. I haven't really heard anything one way or another about how much he likes coaching for Dallas.

His last contract averaged 12M per year.
8/3/2010: Signed a five-year, $60 million contract. The deal contains $40 million guaranteed

I'm going to guess and say that he is thinking that Melton would be unwilling to come back at a smaller contract.

I wouldn't blame him though, he took a prove it contract and in his mind he may think he proved he's worth the pay increase.

I've been thinking the same thing, Henry Melton will want to take the best deal he can find on the open market if Dallas elects to decline the three year option in his contract.

There will be plenty of time to discuss a new deal before Melton becomes a free agent if the option isn't picked up prior to the first day of the 2015 league year. I just don't think it's going to happen.

Consider this, Brad Sham did his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan's pre-game show Thursday night and he revealed the team was going to have Melton as a healthy scratch before deciding to sit DeMarcus Lawrence because of njury.

The media enjoys talking about Rod Marinelli's loyalty to his great friend, Lovie Smith, when speculating about his coaching prospects in 2015.

No one ever mentions Marinelli might have developed some attachment for his current team and not want to leave the job nfinished.

Why sign a de in FA and then draft the same position in the first round?

Have you already given up on lawrence?

The secondary also needs to be looked at in the first.

Maybe we'll be in the sweet spot for the best cover safety in the draft this year

Speaks volumes about his future here IMO.

That's sounds odd. I'm sure Sham is not trying to be a hype master, but he could have misunderstood the situation.

Agreed.

The team needs to make some serious upgrades at defensive end.

I haven't given up on DeMarcus Lawrence, but he's barely played to date.

It would be a bad idea at this point to pencil him in as the starting RDE for next season and bury our heads in the sand.

Lawrence can play either side, so I'm open to signing a veteran free agent at either spot.

A free agent addition could be a short term or long term contract, but Dallas might not keep such a player long term in either case for a variety of reasons. So I'd still hope to add a DE early in the draft looking to solidify the position.

It was an unexpected revelation.

Still, Brad Sham has been covering the Dallas Cowboys for a long time and he has his sources.

I trust what he said.

I do wonder if there is any tension with Marinelli in regards to Jerry pushing for Josh Brent to be active. I could see Marinelli telling Jerry that Melton would have to be inactive if Brent was active because they can't count on either Melton of Brent to play much more than 30 snaps. Hayden is not very good but they can count on him to play a lot of snaps.

I would look to sign Jpp too, can't rely on the draft to find a good pass rusher but I doubt the giants let him go.

lol.

It'll be one or the other FA or draft.

They won't spend big money on a de and then take one in the first.

Especially with lawrence being in the mix.

Wouldn't be opposed to a DT though, but there are too many holes to spend so many big time resources on one position in one off season
