Broadus is saying they'll go DL at #9...

I don't know what to think, honestly. I just know that the status quo along the offensive line is going to make me feel like the season is over before it begins. They're just way too streaky and inconsistent. They can put together a few good games and then totally collapse at other times.

I don't know what the magical number or who that magical player is who has to exit the team and who that magical player is that we have to get to make me feel differently, but if it's the same on the OL as it was this past year it's going to get ugly.

I don't know if Colombo's body has given out, but he plays with very bad technique.

See I think his technique is the only thing he has going for him.

The truth.

It's makes all the difference in the world for any defense.

While that is true in a 3-4 it is the OLBs that make the difference.

I see him often playing too high and letting defensive linemen get under his pads, enabling them to push him around.

Being 6'8 and having bad lower legs will do that you.

I guess he suddenly forgot how to use technique about the same time he started breaking his leg and getting knee surgeries in mid season to repair degenerating knees. Funny coincidence.

Specifically what is the proper technique to use when one lets the defender get to your outside shoulder by the time you're able to get out of your stance?

Wow, it's almost like he has trouble with knee bend or something.

I wonder if he has any knee problems in his past? Maybe I'll do a Google search and see what I turn up.

I did not know that he had degenerative knees. I guess that explains a lot then.

If you could find where he has degenerative knees, that would be swell.

Someone needs to let Belichik know how to run a 3-4. He's been throwing away first round picks on guys like Ty Warren, Richard Seymore and Vince Wilfork all this time.

And if OLBs make the difference, we're royally screwed if we're sticking with Anthony Spencer and his 4 sacks per season next year.

I think Colombos body has gave out on him guys who are better than him will be simple to find if we put any effort into it.

I doubt very seriously Sam Young after an offseason won't be better than him too.

In my scenario if we keep Columbo it is not with the intentions of being a full time starter for the season.

It is to be a stop gap for a few games until we can get another RT ready from the draft or from our current young players.

I have no data to back this up but I have a feeling Columbo starts off ok and very quickly wears down due to his legs. Again a gut feeling here as I have not went back and checked things out from the beginning.

Keep in mind, I am not pushing for him to be on the roster. I prefer for him to be gone. I just don't want to go into the season with some young guy that is not ready and we wind up with another petitti situation all year. Someone who was thrown into the far way too early.

The ideal situation is to get a guy in FA or get a top flight OT in the draft that can contribute early. Beat columbo out in camp and then let him go.

The Patriots are barely better than the Cowboys defensively.

I found where he had a knee injury so bad that he had to sit out two years out of the game, and I found where he had to have knee surgery in mid season just this year to clean up knee problems.

I'm not going to put 2 + 2 together for you, math class is down the hall.

Do you see a player the caliber of Seymour or Wilfork in this draft?

I know some are high on Marcel or Nick but I just don't think they are the same level. But who knows, I am no expert.

Now I know you are talking about Linemen vs OLB in the 3-4, I was just adding that into the equation.

In an ideal situation we could get a great NT and move Ratliff to DE if we had to. In an ideal situation we could draft a Seymour type player at DE. I just don't see those types of players with the two main targets most people would consider for us in Nick and Marcel.

This year.

When Ty Warren and Richard Seymore were in their primes they were significantly better. They haven't replaced the with elite talents, and their defense has suffered.
