True but i think alot of people are getting a eye on what teams think on how many teams are trying hard to trade back. And i was driving to work the other day listening to the NFL channel on sirius and there was a guy on there saying word going around is Leonard Williams could fall because the media is much higher on him than NFL teams are.

Ive said it alot this yr, this doesnt look like a very good draft.

If this is the case, does it make sense to trade down and draft more less talented players? I sure don't think we're going to see teams trading down for peanuts because the talent looks better next year.

If they could trade i could see teams doing it this yr. But if you dont have teams offering what they want why do it? Just because a team wants to doesnt mean they can.

I agree 100%. I have always wanted quality over quantity. If you are fielding only backups and you feel your team is close to being a contender it is a waste. Now if you are rebuilding then take chances on jags, but to draft for them to sit on a bench and learn the system and scheme for 3 to 4 years is a flat out waste. I say direct yourself to draft starter material. Of course all 7 rounds isn't going to start but at least focus the first 3 rounds to be starters or at most 3rd down rotational players and not all special team guys.

We have a good base of players.

We just need guys that aren't going to screw things up at more positions.

If there isn't a impact Pass Rusher then yes I want to play a numbers game and have as many potential Anthony Hitchens type guys out on the field as possible.

I call BS on a GM thinking there are only four 1st round level players.

Never go with quantity over quality. If you can trade down and stay in the same quality range, then okay.

1 very good player is far better than 2 average players. 2 very good players are better than 5 average players.

You need players that can make an impact. Not just bodies on the field.

Agreed but with the circumstances that this draft presents you aren't going to get the quality.

You may trade down 20 spots and not see much of an on field difference between Kendricks and The Miss. State LB McKinney.

Well another person in this thread said that Pat Kirwan was told by a GM that there was 6.

So 10 legit first rounders would seem like a fair over / under for what the league has on average.

VACowboy this might make perfect sense if you can trade down in the high 2nd Round range and have
added an additional 2nd and 3rd Rounder in the process...think about this for example:

2nd Round: Byron Jones CB
2nd Round Preston Smith DL
3rd Round Jay Ajayi RB
3rd Round Mario Edwards DE

Don't look at the order only the Players but these could be realistic Picks by trading down....

Tell me the truth would you be happy with those picks ? would this improve the Boyz YES or NO

I've heard in the low 20s from more than once.
I guess maybe if you average all of that together...I don't know.

We know it's not considered to be 32..or 27..or even much less.

That there is only 4 legit first round talents in this draft.

Can't say I agree but when picking at 27 this really confirms my stance on wanting to trade down and load up on as many role players as possible.

Yes, Jerry does believe it too....lol!

I could see 6 players considered blue chip, but just 6 with first round grades is pretty ruthless.

It's possible this GM has removed players like Gregory, Ray, Peters and DGB. Maybe even La'el Collins, due to the murder investigation. There also might be positions that never get first round grades, like Center or Strong Safety. And if this GM's team doesn't play a 3-4, players like Beasley and and Shelton might also be off the board.

Definites (9 or 11)
QB - Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota
WR - Amari Cooper, Kevin White
RB - Todd Gurley
OL - Brandon Scherff
DT - Leonard Williams and Danny Shelton*
DE - Dante Fowler Jr
LB - Vic Beasley*
CB - Trae Waynes

Borderlines (7 to 13)
WR - DeVante Parker, Dorial Green-Beckham
RB - Melvin Gordon
OL - La'el Collins, Andrus Peat
DT - Malcom Brown
DE - Alvin Dupree, Randy Gregory, Shane Ray
CB - Kevin Johnson, Byron Jones, Marcus Peters
S - Landon Collins

Might be removed due to scheme
Might be removed due to injury, legal or behavior

Even some of the borderlines are borderline. We had 23 players with first round grades in 2010, when that draft board leaked. That one had some truly great players like Suh and McCoy. When the DC board leaked in 2013, we had 18 (maybe should have been fewer). This year's board looks to be on the low end of the spectrum.

They should publish a Wonderlic score for all media guys. My guess:
Sturm 40
Broaddus 12
Calvin Watkins 1

I generally like Broaddus but don't take him seriously. The difference between Broaddus and some random guy in a bar talking is that Broaddus has a parking spot at Valley Ranch.

Also I don't think he is a dumb guy but apparently you can get accepted to LSU and attend for four years without passing a Junior High grammar class.

Most teams have tier ratings. I think the Cowboys divide round 1 into 3 parts. They will rate a player R1-1, R1-2 or R1-3.

The GM probably told Broaddus that there were only 4 tier 1 players.

Sturm 40

Calvin Watkins 1

i think you missed a decimal point in between the 1 and 2 on broaddus score

Wonder if that GM thought Travis Frederick was a 1st round talent when we picked him at. #31. Doubt it.

But it's a perfect draft for Dallas.

We have a lot of holes and there is a lot of solid role players in this draft.

I wish we had more picks.

I'd rather trade out of the first round and try to acquire 2 or 3 more picks.

When the draft is weak you should always trade up, not down. See the 2009 draft. Go get the few players you want. I would rather come away with 2-3 guys that we target and could impact the team then 5-7 guys that might not even make the team.

This is considered a very weak draft.
I saw where Leonard Williams would rate about 10th versus last year's class of defensive guys but is easily the highest rated guy in this draft.

The OTs are softer and all in all it is a weak year.

BUT, it is deep in some areas like RB and CB depth.
There are good football players you just gotta work a little harder to find them.

See I think in this draft that the guy you would trade down and get at all positions except for pass rusher isn't too far off then what you would be drafting if you stay put.

IMO.. Dallas will be lucky to find 1 impact player but they should more then be able to find guys that can come in and play a role on this defense.

If Kendricks is the best player on the board i'd gladly trade down and draft PErryman or one of the other 3 or 4 linebackers that could potentially be as good or better that will be available.
