thats not what ive seen with my own eyes.. so he has no INTs and that somewhat of a big deal but if you want to call that a wash, this is what I see.. he is Carr 2.0a great cover corner with little ball hawk skills BUT the only reason hes look s good on paper here is he is our best corner and teams have not challenged him much, they throw at Lewis and Awuzie more .. what I saw is when they did challenge him he was getting beat, maybe not a lot of Tds but he was getting beat deep, its his weakness and if more teams wanted to or saw this , Jones would have looked even worse..i saw this a lot late last year when they went his way often he was just a good CB..hes looking at elite money and is just really good..
teams have to make tough decisions and we have so many Fas including Dak and Coop.. sometimes you have to decide what's more important or harder to replace.. we paid big to get Carr and hes was just a Jones, never elite.. we are in a similar situation and I doubt the FO wants to do that twice..
Can I assume you’re talking about the
situation such as a Brandon Carr 2.0 vs the actual player vs player ? ……. in that the team wants far more out of a vastly high paid starting CB in the future – and that simply includes ball hawk INTs to go along with top man coverage ..the INTs turn the field position/game momentum big plays for the team, than just a guy that will only knock it down.
Because as far as player vs player,.. Byron is a much better man coverage guy than Brandon Carr ever was, imo . … at least Jones has had his one year of fame as an All pro (albeit still zero INTs) and pro bowl CB invite in 2018, whereas Brandon has never been in the mention as a pro bowl candidate and of course never been an INT hawk.
I seriously doubt Calvin Johnson wouldn’t have gotten a single game NFL record outing against Jones as when he murderously did vs Brandon Carr.
And I notice the highest top paid CBs get INTs – Ramsey has a lower INT career than the other elite CBs, but he still doubles what Jones could ever have –Gilmore is Defensive of Player of year, then you see career totals of Slay, Marcus Peters, Chris Harris, etc. these guys have had the INTs to go along with pro bowl coverage. Jones will never give us this, and the team seems to be clearly fed up with the lack of turnovers and it’s hit their boiling point.
