Sorry, but what I would do to this player is bench him for the remainder of his contract as a third stringer then see what he gets after sitting for three or more years.

If that does not work and they have to trade him, trade him cheap to a team that already has a for sure starting QB locked up for years to come.

worse comes to worse, trade him to oakland (well they already have a guy but you get my drift) or Detroit.

No way should a player bully his way to whatever he wants. Cutler needs to be a team player. Tough luck if you do not like it.
I believe this is something that Al Davis has done.

And it has created a bad aura around that Raider Mystique. I remember when Marcus Allen finally got out and played for KC and he became a pain in they're arse.

I would trade Romo for Cutler in a heart beat. Cutler is the real deal. I love Romo and he is a good guy but I'm not convinced he can get the job done. He doesn't have the arm strength to sit in the pocket and pass under pressure particularly late in the season. Cutler is a legitimate pocket passer with size who can make all the throws.

And I don't think he is a head case. I would be upset too if I learned my new coach was trying to trade me for another QB especially if I just had a great season. So he is supposed to just forget that his new coach didn't even trust him enough to try and win with him? What type of confidence does that instill. And in regards to having a stronger arm than Elway...frankly I loved that answer. I was glad to see him stick it to the Elway is god legacy in Denver. He wasn't afraid to challenge Elway and that's the type of QB I want. You want a guy who is competitive and unafraid. And the guy is only 25 years old.

Denver has made some bad decisions to the point that it has hurt their franchise. Getting rid of Shanahan was a bad move. Granted, Shanahan is a little overrated but lets be realistic, it's not easy to replace Elway. Shanahan finally gets a legitimate QB yet isn't given enough time to work with him.

I understand we are sympathetic toward Romo but I'm not convinced we can win a Superbowl with him and it has nothing to do with him dating Jessica or his focus etc. I just think Romo lacks the physical tools.

Cutler can't handle DENVER. What makes you think he can handle DALLAS where the media is 100X worse.

Immature QB in Dallas is simply disaster no matter what talent he's got.

I think you give Denver too much credit. They have big holes in a lot of places and are not a contender...especially w/o Cutler.

I do agree that Cleveland would make sense if they would package maybe Quinn and Shawn Rodgers...then both teams would have Qbs and be able to keep their 1st round picks.

You may be right about their holes, but I'm looking at it through the Broncos point of view. They certainly don't want to take a three year step back by drafting Stafford. I their minds, they are looking for a way to contend this year. There is no way McDaniels is going to trade Cutler, draft Stafford, and then finish 5-11 or 6-10. They will be asking for his head if he does, rebuilding or not. The Broncos brass has to be really careful on how they approach this. The only way I can see this team contending this year is if they get a young, starter ready, franchise caliber QB, who most preferrably, already knows the offense from day one. That screams of Brady Quinn. The only question, in my mind, is how they go about getting him. I just don't think Cleveland will be satisfied coming out of this with Derek Anderson as their starter. I think the Browns would be thrilled with Cutler.

Here is the latest Rumor that I've heard...from an ESPN message board. It could be garbage, but this is what they said:

"This Just In.....According to The Denver Sentinal...Houston Texans owner Bob McNair and GM Rick Smith have been in Denver all day negotiating a trade. The paper says that this is practically a done deal. The Broncos will receive Matt Schaub, the 15th pick, Dunta Robinson and Demeco Ryans in exchange for Jay Cutler. Wow...this is huge....Jay Cutler - Welcome To Houston!!! "

Man, that seems very pricey. It may be an April Fools hoax. Also, isn't the main Dennver paper the Post?
Maybe Cutler and Denver's 1st for all of that...but Cutler only? That would be sweet for Denver.

I certainly am not sold on Shaub.

Anyway, here's a story that sees it like I do. It's a huge rumor in Cleveland right now.

Will Cleveland Browns part with Brady Quinn in a three-way deal involving Jay Cutler?

by Mary Kay Cabot/Plain Dealer Reporter Wednesday April 01, 2009, 1:40 PM

Associated PressWould the Browns be willing to part with quarterback Brady Quinn?

CLEVELAND - Speculation is rampant that the Browns will be involved in three-way trade talks for disgruntled Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler.

The Broncos announced Tuesday that they will trade their 2006 first-round pick after new head coach Josh McDaniels and Cutler failed to resolve their differences.
A message left for Browns general manager George Kokinis was not immediately returned.
ESPN's John Clayton speculated today that the Browns could become part of a three-way trade that would send Brady Quinn to Denver and involve the Detroit Lions, who have the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.
"I'd have to think things start to broker through Cleveland, possibly involving the Detroit Lions,'' Clayton said.
He also said, "I think somehow, some way, Brady Quinn is going to be brought fully into this equation ... There's a decent chance Brady Quinn in a three-way deal is going to end up in the Broncos organization.''
The Broncos are believed to be seeking a starting quarterback and first-round picks in 2009 and 2010. The Browns have the No. 5 overall pick in the draft, April 25-26.
The Broncos are also hoping to trade Cutler to an NFC team, sources told the Denver Post.

Word out of Denver is that the Browns were one of the teams that expressed initial interest in Cutler when he first became upset that McDaniels tried to trade for Matt Cassel, who wound up in Kansas City.
The Browns could also trade Derek Anderson, but McDaniels might be more interested in Quinn because of their mutual association with Charlie Weiss, who was McDaniels' offensive coordinator in New England and Quinn's coach at Notre Dame. Weiss has repeatedly said Quinn will someday be the caliber of a Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.
Any team interested in Quinn would have to consider his contract situation. If he plays 70% of the snaps in 2009, he will reach $11 million in escalators, which the new team would either have to pay or renegotiate. Cutler, who's set to make $1.035 million in 2009, might also seek a new deal. He's due to receive a $4 million roster bonus in 2010 and $12 million in 2011.
The Denver Post reported Wednesday morning that the Washington Commanders are among the leading candidates to trade for Cutler. They have a good young quarterback to offer in Jason Campbell and the No. 13 pick in the draft, one behind the Broncos.
The paper said the Jets have also been aggressive in their pursuit of Cutler. It been reported that besides the Browns, four other teams initially expressed interest: Tampa Bay, Chicago, Minnesota and Detroit.
In the event the Browns landed Cutler in a two-way trade involving Quinn, Anderson would most likely ask to be traded.

News Item: I don't see Jay Cutler getting traded.

That's my feeling after talking to the involved parties for a (insert shameless plug here) Sports Illustrated story this week. Now, I can't say with conviction that Cutler's going to be the Broncos' opening day starter, but I do think coach Josh McDaniels will exhaust every avenue to try to get Cutler to stay, and I do think nothing's going to happen here. Funny thing is, around the lobby and meeting rooms, I couldn't find any coach who thought the Broncos should even think of trading Cutler.

"Say you're the Broncos, and Tampa Bay offers you two ones [two first-round picks] plus [second-year quarterback] Josh Johnson for Cutler,'' one NFC coach told me. "Denver makes the deal and picks a quarterback with one of the ones. You've traded the best young quarterback in football for two guys who might have a chance, but might be washouts too. Denver's problem is they could never get fair value for him.''

I called Charlie Weis, the Notre Dame coach and mentor of McDaniels, and asked what I considered the biggest question McDaniels must ask himself as he figures how far he'll go to keep Cutler: If I have to kiss this kid's feet and kowtow to him to make him feel comfortable enough to stay, is that any way to form a coach-player relationship with the most important player on the team?

"It's a rhetorical question, but it's one I definitely would ask,'' said Weis, who left the Patriots' for Notre Dame in 2005, ceding the offensive coordinator's role to McDaniels. "That thought would go through my mind. You've got to be able to coach a quarterback, and coach him hard. You don't want to start your relationship that way.

"Look, I'm not taking sides here. I know Josh very well, and I don't know Jay. But the one question I would ask is: Why wouldn't anyone faced with such a big decision not go have a one-on-one meeting with the coach? It's common sense. Even if you end up telling the guy to go to hell, don't you have to actually talk face to face, alone, before making such a huge career decision?''

Last week, the venom from the Cutler camp was so toxic I said I thought he'd have to be traded. But it was interesting here, listening to former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice speak to the body of league people (including McDaniels) and media here Sunday night. She talked at one point about how "history has a long arc,'' and how you have to take a long view of things. If you're always chasing the day's headlines, she said, you'll eventually become so reactionary that you'll ignore long-term good for short-term satisfaction, and you'll fail. I was thinking of McDaniels and Denver management. I think, like Rice used to do in the Middle East, the Broncos will exhaust all diplomatic means. And with agent Bus Cook on record as saying Cutler will report to mandatory mini-camps and training camp, why trade the guy, there's certainly no reason to do anything fast ... even if that means you don't have a definitive answer on Cutler by draft day.

A trade to the Panthers makes sense, for both sides. Denver gets a premiere rusher (Peppers) for their new 3-4 scheme and a proven vet QB (Delhomme). Plus w/the 12th pick, Broncs can take whichever QB falls to them (Stafford or Sanchez, at the very least Freeman or Bomar) to groom behind Delhomme.

Panthers get the best value they could possibly get from a known disgruntled and leverage holding franchise player. Carolina gets one franchise player for another, and Cutler is young, pro bowl proven, AND a QB.

I understand about competing this year but the Browns are going to have to give up more for Cutler than Brady Quinn. But it does make sense.

If they're content with getting rid of Cutler (I have no idea) then Detroit makes the most sense. I doubt they can contend against the Chargers with Stafford but you never know. It is a weak division o/w.

I just hope the Skins don't get him.

So it's been said that Denver is asking nothing less than two first rounders. This makes sense. They are in rebuild mode.
