Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reports that the cost to acquire Browns backup QB Josh McCown is “believed to be no less than a fourth-round pick.”

The Cowboys reportedly contacted the Browns about McCown, but talks obviously didn’t go very far, as they hasn’t been any buzz in recent days regarding the idea

Robinson mentions that the Cowboys are reluctant to part with anything of value, and nothing more than a sixth-round pick for a backup quarterback right now.

Reports said that the Cowboys reached out to the representatives for free agent Josh Freeman, but the team later downplayed their interest in him.

Last week, Browns HC Hue Jackson said there really isn’t anything to the reports of them making backup McCown available for trade.

“I have no thoughts, whatsoever,” Jackson said, via Pro Football Talk. “You said it, it’s rumor. There is nothing to it as far as we’re concerned. I’ve heard about it, obviously I have, but I feel good that he’s here. He’s a Cleveland Brown and I know nothing else about the other part of it.”

McCown, 36, signed a three-year, $14 million contract that includes $6.25 million guaranteed with the Browns back in March of last year. He stands to make base salaries of $4.375 million (2016) and $3.625 million (2017) over the duration of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading McCown will free up $3,708,332 in available cap space while creating $1,333,334 in dead money.

In 2015, McCown appeared in eight games and threw for 2,109 yards while completing 63.7 percent of his passes to go along with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 29 quarterback out of 38 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding a potential McCown trade as the news is available.

you remember wrong. we swapped a 5 and 7. the value of which was more like a 6th rounder

I stand corrected then.

My memory gets clouded when we get ripped off in a trade when we panic.

Thanks for pointing out the error of my ways.

Why bother in all honesty.............this coaching staff proved last year that they cannot win a game without Romo changing the plays at the line.

If Romo goes down, we lose................doesn't really matter who the backup is so we should just keep our picks.

Why even have him on the trade block if you're asking that ridiculous price?
