Cleveland has the leverage now, so they can demand a 2nd rounder right now. We won't really know what they ultimately will settle for until they begin making roster cuts in a few weeks. If I'm Dallas, I offer a 6 and no higher than that.

Let me think.... A 4th for McCown a journeyman... Or roll with Dak... I think Dak gets us a better pick next year.. Roll with Dak it is...

Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reports that the cost to acquire Browns backup QB Josh McCown is “believed to be no less than a fourth-round pick.”

The Cowboys reportedly contacted the Browns about McCown, but talks obviously didn’t go very far, as they hasn’t been any buzz in recent days regarding the idea

Robinson mentions that the Cowboys are reluctant to part with anything of value, and nothing more than a sixth-round pick for a backup quarterback right now.

Reports said that the Cowboys reached out to the representatives for free agent Josh Freeman, but the team later downplayed their interest in him.

Last week, Browns HC Hue Jackson said there really isn’t anything to the reports of them making backup McCown available for trade.

“I have no thoughts, whatsoever,” Jackson said, via Pro Football Talk. “You said it, it’s rumor. There is nothing to it as far as we’re concerned. I’ve heard about it, obviously I have, but I feel good that he’s here. He’s a Cleveland Brown and I know nothing else about the other part of it.”

McCown, 36, signed a three-year, $14 million contract that includes $6.25 million guaranteed with the Browns back in March of last year. He stands to make base salaries of $4.375 million (2016) and $3.625 million (2017) over the duration of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading McCown will free up $3,708,332 in available cap space while creating $1,333,334 in dead money.

In 2015, McCown appeared in eight games and threw for 2,109 yards while completing 63.7 percent of his passes to go along with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 29 quarterback out of 38 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding a potential McCown trade as the news is available.

Pass. McCown isn't worth a 4th. If Romo goes down again the season is over no matter who your back up qb is.

They have Cody Kessler so they will cut McCown or Davis and a team like The Browns don't need a real backup like McCown.

OK, it looks like are all in agreement.

We trade a 4th round pick for this girl Cheryl Cole.

I would do it in a heartbeat......takes all of the pressure off of Dak and gives us the option on 2017 at 4.3m....we are 10m under the cap when we cut McClain

So we cut Showers? Rather let them play out the preseason and see what we've got 1st.

Why even have him on the trade block if you're asking that ridiculous price?

Yeah, put him on the block for the offer you will settle for, not the one you hope and pray for. Negotiations are a waste of time.

you remember wrong. we swapped a 5 and 7. the value of which was more like a 6th rounder
Not wanting to dig into this too much, but if you use any draft chart, a 5th rounder is worth anywhere from 10 to 20 7th rounders. It exponential. A 7th is not much different than an UDFA.

The value of that 5th was about 34, the value of the 7th...was 2

is this "any draft chart"?

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/draft/draft-trade-chart/

the difference between the 15th pick in rounds 5 and 7 is a 25.9 - a 6th round pick.
