Not wanting to dig into this too much, but if you use any draft chart, a 5th rounder is worth anywhere from 10 to 20 7th rounders. It exponential. A 7th is not much different than an UDFA.

Not like even a 5th usually pans out long term. Just sayin, the value of a 5th is maybe two 6ths.

the 15th pick in the 5th is worth 34pts, in the 6th its worth 21 pts and in the 7th its worth 9 pts

a late 4th is worth around 50 pts, not really prohibitive

yup......I have seen enough of Showers...see if he makes the PS again

Really? How so, nobody has seen enough of Showers. Camp reports are often over blown but he is still drawing alot of praise. How about we settle down a little bit and let him play a couple preseason games first? I doubt anybody is beating down Clevelands door to give them a 4th round pick.

I have very little interest in Showers.....if he wasn't a Cowboy it would be 0 interest

If we had a guy we were sure we wanted to develop, McCown would be a great addition as he's a good mentor. He'd be a great sounding board for Romo (like Kitna. Not like Orton).

He's not getting starter money and they probably really want him to help RG3 and mentor Kessler. Dont think they'll budge on the price. Likely raise it for a desperate team

I think the price will go down in a few weeks

Even more than the draft pick, I'm not interested in paying the $4.3 million salary. If Romo gets hurt, this season is over anyway. Save the money and look for the better draft pick in 2017, and don't kid yourself again like you did in 2015.

I admit Eric, I like that one better.

The draftek one, as it turns out, devalues 7th rounders much more

Thanks

and to make you feel even better, that is the value for the draft we are in now. Charts treat picks a year away one round lower. this trade was for picks in 2017, so really it was like the difference between a 6th rounder and an 8th rounder.

there are so many scenarios that makes that kind of thinking terrible......Romo might get hurt Week 13 for a month when we are 9-4.......you want to flush the season away then?....4.3m is nothing for a real QB2.....we saw last year what the Walmart version gets us...."I hate Weeden, but he is free"

Why? You've got a third round pick, a reclamation project, and Austin Davis.

I'm sure if RG3 is hurt or ineffective, Browns fans are gonna love paying to see Davis I stead of the popular McCown

Let me know when we get there. But I'm not wasting all of those resources just in case your scenario occurs.

Actually, it's more than anyone else is paying for their backup quarterback. Even the crazy deal the Eagles gave Chase Daniel is less than what McCown will make this year.

As far from "nothing" as you're going to find.

4.3 mill is cheap for a quality backup.

But hey, you can get yourself a Brandon Weeden for half that.

Chase pulls in 7 mill this year (if he makes the roster).

All evidence to the contrary. There's not a backup quarterback in the league that costs what McCown will this year.
