Funny, I was thinking of starting a thread about the position battles. I think Gachkar and DMC could easily end up roster casualties exactly because of their salaries.

Leary is a starter on most teams in the league, I'd rather pay him and have the depth.

Disagree on McCown, I just don't see him worth that salary. I could see him in Dallas, but at half that salary after the Browns cut him. There is no way I would give up the cap room and a draft pick on top of it.

We are 10m-ish under the cap once we cut/fine McClain.....we can afford some expensive depth.... we don't need to go cheap at QB

too many fans have bought into the austerity budget during a boom time and too many other waaaayyyy over value draft picks......they are just another form of currency to be spent to build the team

you said no one makes that kind of money as a backup QB and we showed you 6 or 7 that do....but keep claiming some kind of pathetic victory....

"We showed you 6 or 7"? Where did that happen? Was it that the list you posted where you tried to throw Goff and Wentz - among others - into the same category as McCown? And you want to talk about a "pathetic victory" against someone else?

Anyone else seeing the irony here?

If Wentz isn't the backup then Bradford is.......same with Keenum....... but most likely Wentz and Goff will be high paid backups this year....sorry if those facts don't compute with you

Wentz......6.6m/ Bradford.....18m
Daniel.......7m
Goff..........7m/ Keenum.....3.65m
Henne......4.75m
Foles..........7.75m
Sanchez.......4.5m

I don't think you count rookie QB salaries as backup QB salaries, regardless of whether or not they are the backup. Those salaries aren't based on position and depth chart, they're based on draft position.

I also don't think the Foles salary you have there should be considered, since his salary was determined when the Rams were expecting him to start. Quite different than signing a backup QB to be the backup QB. When the Chiefs signed him as their backup QB, it was basically for one year at $1.25 mil and none of it is guaranteed.

You can build a team with draft picks, trades or FAs......they all cost in different ways......you can't write one cost off and only focus on FAs......if Wentz and Goff become starters then their salaries will be bargains....that is the cost/benefit of using the draft......Foles is a bargain in KC because LA ate a lot of his salary, but it doesn't just disappear, that payment of 6m happened

We didn't want to pay Murray 5/40m but we then used the 4th overall pick on EElliott......well EElliott also has to paid and that cost is 4/25m or 5/35m with the 5th year option...so we and up paying just as much and using a valuable pick

You're manipulating the truth to support a failing argument. You know it. I know it. The forum knows it.

Nobody's buying what you're trying to sell.

manipulating the truth

another way of saying you were wrong......plenty of backup QBs get paid over 4m just not in the manner you approve

notice that you ignore Sanchez, Henne and Daniel as you said "no QBs" make more than 4.35m

Sure thing. I'm not the only one noticing you trying to manipulate the truth to support your failed case. Have at it, nobody's buying it.

Is Sanchez the verified backup in Denver? No? Then why is he in this list? Oh yeah, because someone's trying to manipulate the truth to support his failed argument.

And you'll have to show me the direct quote from me that says "no QB's make more than 4.35 million" please.

I didn't say it never happens, I said smart teams don't do it and I hope we're smart.
