Green grass 1 mile from the stadium in Orchard Park right now. give it a few hours and that will change. you could have 3 ft overnight and your buddy the next town over might not get anything. Buffalo fans love this weather , but if it gets that bad they can't clean the stadium of snow that quick. A snowfall that large takes days to cleanup.

Blizzards, Nor'easters, etc., have not stopped them in the past. Why should it now?

In my opinion, the NFL is protecting their number one asset: the players. Why they suddenly care about the Bills and Browns playing in these conditions all of a sudden is the question I would like answered. The reasons the league gave justifying the move run counter to past decisions in similar situations.

This is what I thought as well. I don't even think they let the players play on a field and conditions like the ice bowl anymore. What's next, rain outs? I'll also have to defer to Troy Aikman for further comments.

Hopefully we're wrong and they're doing this because there's simply going to be too much snow.

Just saw the story. I am a huge advocate of domed stadiums but I also think open air stadium fans deserve what they prefer. The game should not have been moved. Sports fans who want hypothermia should always enjoy the opportunity of contracting it. That's fair.

Before i saw your post on Dome Stadiums, i was going to point out the stunning ongoing mystery as why these owners have no problems building brand new spanking stadiums,
but for whatever reason, they refuse to build Dome stadiums to where it protects the game,.. the playing field, ...their loyal freezing their bones fans and if they posed

With a new state of the art Dome stadium, they could at least have a chance at contention for a Super Bowl bid.

And imagine the cash flow and revenue a Super Bowl could do not only the owners, sponsors, ..and their respective cities ?

But Chicago, Buffalo, Washington, Minnesota, Cleveland, New England (Detroit?) they've built new stadiums, without the thought of a Dome or retractible roof covered stadium.
And long have Chiefs been at snow, rain and wind filled ancient Arrow Head Stadium that come under same dreaded weather conditions ?

It's been done before with the Bills, and Lake Effect snow is a completely different snow. Trust me. I live in Cleveland.

Look, I enjoy watching snow games. I don't care how much snow or how difficult the game might be to officiate or attend. Its not my problem. All I know is that nobody should be forced to go to Detroit. Its bad enough we send teams to London and Germany. Detroit is crossing the line.

I don't think they've ever played in 4 feet of snow.

I remember in Northern Jersey, the snow would stick around for a month or more each time. Our school buses had chains on the tires in Winter, so snow days were pretty rare, compared to now, when they cancel school the day before, and sometimes it doesn't even end up snowing.

Still the same way.

I can't agree with the dome fans. Football is an all weather sport, and should be played in all weather. If there's anything they shouldn't play in, it's the extreme heat.

I love the snow now that I no longer have to plow it. I don't care if it snows 5 feet tomorrow. I'll stock up on snacks and beer, and not go to work until it clears up. But I wouldn't actually attend a game in those conditions. A dome wouldn't matter either.

I hate snow. Didn't mind it when I wasn't a truck driver...but I hate snow.

I normally agree with playing in the snow but if 4-6 feet show up, there’s little chances of getting all the support people to run the game and stadium, refs, grounds/snow removal, EMT personnel, etc,etc

probably a smart move

Up to 4 feet of snow expected this weekend. Football aside, thoughts and prayers to all in that area and may all be safe and well.

Well to be fair 4 feet of snow is a Wednesday in the winter time in places like Buffalo. The natives will have zero trouble coping with it. Now making it so 70,000 people can get in and out of the stadium is another story.

Good point lol. I was thinking Toronto would be a good alternative lol.

I grew up in western NY. I got stuck more than once. .

I will say though winters are nowhere what they used to be. I can remember as a kid not seeing green grass from early December to early March. You had to dig deep into the snow.

Now winters are a couple snow events like this one and cool to cold. It’s not the day to day brutal weather anymore.
Yup!!! 100% agree. I'll say this cautiously, because I know this could provoke conversations that coujld toe the line of politics, but winters have definitely changed. I live in Boise, Idaho, and when I was younger, we always looked forward to snow as kids. Sledding, snow forts, and the best ever......snow day(s) from school! Bogus Basin ski resort (16 miles from Boise) would usually be open by Thanksgiving. Now, it hardly ever snows much in this city, and Bogus Basin has limited runs open on Thanksgiving (thanks to their snow making machine). My daughter growing up hardly even knew what a snow day was, "you got to stay home for that?". It's sad, really.

That seems to be the case where I live too. I remember it snowing a lot more when I was a kid. We would constantly go sled riding. Now a sled would rust in my garage. Here's the thing, I remember my mother telling me the same thing. That it snowed a lot more when she was younger. Did her parents tell her that too?

We're either remembering it wrong, or this has been a trend for a lot longer than people think. Anyway, I think we've drifted off topic, sort of.

Didn't the Governor declare a state of emergency? That means only min travel is recommended.

M1A Socom in image?

No, but I can see why the good guess. M1A built before they even came out with the Socom. Stock by McMillan (when he owned the company), ARMS M1A mount with Shepard scope.

It's the not size of the gun you have to hump, but how many rounds of ammo you have to hump LOL

Weather games with really extreme weather (rain, wind, or snow) are really boring because the teams can't really do anything. It's not football at that point.
