So Henderson gets no credit for the huge leap of Scandrick as CB?

Dear 7 pound 6 ounce Baby Jesus, please take him. Im as loyal a fan as there will ever be, but if I was a Browns fan I might jump ship

I don't want to sidetrack this thread, but I would kindly appreciate it if you wouldn't drag Jesus' name into this.

We can't talk about religion, and some of us do revere the name and don't want to see it used in a vain way, especially since we can't talk about Him.

Thanks.

Other than that, I agree with your post. :)

I just read that he used to be a secondary coach for the Browns.

Oddly similar to the Todd Bowles situation a while back. Not saying he is going to become Todd Bowles, but people wanted him to leave and he ran one of the best defenses in football.

That's because coaches are set up to fail here and most fans either aren't smart enough to know it or just don't want to acknowledge it.

I think one thing we've learned is that Bill Parcells is one heck of a developer of great coaches. He saw great talent in Payton - a guy who was fired in Philly and was getting the ax in NY after having had his role totally diminished.. He saw something in Zimmer - enough to keep him to run his 3-4, something he'd had no experience with. And again, he plucked Bowles from the Browns - not who you usually look to for great coaching talent - his final year, the Browns did well on pass D statistically, but that was really because they were comically bad in their run D (they averaged 145 yards rushing given up per game!)

He and Rob Ryan actually had a decent defense in Cleveland before they came to Dallas. Rob Ryan talked Henderson up like he was Vince Lombardi at the time....

The Eagles are bringing Gase back for a second interview. He could be their guy.

That sucks for us. I think he has the makings of a good coach. Wonder if they'll roll with Bradford or try to trade up for a QB.

or Mike Zimmer. It's never the players fault here, its always the coaches. Yet, Bowles, Payton, Zimmer, and the like have success elsewhere. wonder why that is?

I really never understood the Zimmer hate. I really liked the guy as our DC. If I am not mistaken we had the #1 defense in the league under him one year with absolutely awful talent.

That is a nightmare situation. The Eagles get the brightest offensive mind in the league and we remain with status quo...

In regards to Henderson, much like with Marinelli, he had to adapt to something completely out of his comfort zone early on. He has always been a guy to coach press coverage and man defenses. They had him trying to coach zone for two season. His abilities were clearly evident this year after what he did with table scraps and Byron Jones' development. You may not like Henderson, but good luck finding a better defensive backs coach. The best we can hope for is simple a better fit.

This is what I don't understand. We have a defensive backs coach with no familiarity of a certain scheme coaching up defensive backs (particularly two high profile ones in Claiborne and Carr) who's strengths are allegedly not suited to fit that scheme. Exactly whose "scheme" is it and whose bright idea was it to continue to pump high end resources (players and coaches) that don't fit that scheme? I still don't know what this defensive scheme is.

You can find him in the corner of the bar drinking JW Blue with his secretary sitting on his lap. If he's busy, the other guy is driving around in a beat up VW. You'll know it's the right one when you hear a thunderous and continuous echoing clap, followed by 30 others clowns getting out before him.

Perfect coach for Cleveland. Jerry should sweeten the offer for him to leave and he can take the
Safety coach with him.

If you mean the special teams coach rich bisaccia, I'm all for it !!

Claiborne and Carr were initially acquired to presumably play primarily press-man coached by Henderson in Rob Ryan's "scheme". They fired Ryan but didn't want to lose Henderson, so now you have the mismatch in schemes/talents/expertise all over the place.
