Browns waived/released QB Austin Davis, TE E.J. Bibbs, and K Travis Coons.

Davis was an expected cut, but it is a reminder the team ridiculously gave him a three-year contract with a $500,000 signing bonus and $600,000 guaranteed last September. Barely more than a camp arm, he might not find a new home right away. With Coons cut, Patrick Murray has won the kicking competition.

I know Reality and many others want him...I bet he is on the team by tomorrow.

He's the guy I'm signing.

I think the Browns did both him and the Cowboys a favor.

I thought he looked like he could become a decent QB at some point when he was with the Rams. But if even the Browns cut him....

So we cut Showers? Romo is still our #3 as of now.

I think there's a good chance they put Showers back on the practice squad once they sign a veteran quarterback. I know he hasn't been "Dak" on the field, but to be fair, he's played with the 3rd and lower string players for the most part, so it's hard to judge him at this point other than to say he's not on Dak's level.

I think signing Austin as our backup would be a good move. That said, we are 1 day away from the first round of cuts and 5 days away from final cuts, so I would be tempted to wait and see who else gets cut since we have high priority on waived players. Of course if they could sign him without any upfront money, I would do that immediately.

well we could give the Browns Showers - they are headed that way - the option QB

Yeah, but who is playing QB for us in that last preseason game?

Showers. Even if they sign Austin Davis, there's no way he will be ready to play in the final preseason game. This is why you always bring a fourth quarterback to training camp even if you know he won't make the team.

Poor Showers...
