Yikes.

Dane has to know Dallas will take a RB.
Wonder if the scouts really like Washington under the radar.
Washington is an injury machine waiting to happen. The guy is simply too big and too plodding to last in the NFL. Big feet, clumsy. I just see bust all over that guy. Short NFL career unless he just does lots of blocking.

He's referring to this comment from Dane in his 7 round mock.

As one plugged-in league source told me about Mayer and the Cowboys: “I just can’t see Dallas passing.”

The Cowboys are looking for a tight end who can hold his own as a blocker but also move the sticks as a receiving threat. If Mayer makes it this far, it’s a good bet he will have a star on his helmet.

Mayer makes too much sense. They want to shift back to a potent run game and what better guy than a stud like Mayer that is nasty and can also make the passing game take the next step? Hes a football player all the way. These are the type of guys you win championships with. You add Mayer and a RB in the 3rd or 4th with a guard in the 2nd and now were mauling people on offense.

The QB needs more help than that. Pollard is coming off of a broken leg and Ronald Jones is just a guy. Gallup is overrated and I wouldn't give you a conditional 7th for the receivers behind him.
That's why I think they should go after Henry. Cost would be cheap, and I think they have the cap space. Likely does more for 2 yrs than a rookie mid round pick running back .
Him and pollard would help each other more, as far as sharing carries, instead of relying on Pollard off an injury, and an unproven rookie

Dane is the best in the business, and he has ties to Dallas. Combine that to the fact that we have been linked to a lot of these guys and this might be pretty close.

Mayer is a day one starting, dependable Tight End and given Dak's affinity for dumping off to Tight Ends will probably prove this to be a very good pick.

I really like Henley but he's already 23. He came to Nevada as a quarterback, moved to WR, CB, and Safety before finally settling in at weakside backer and then transferring to Washington State. Was literally a man amongst boys. Fun fact: his dad Eugene Henley aka Big U, was big in west coast hip hop.

Bradford is a massive Guard (6'5" 345) so maybe they think he can play Right Tackle. Again, I like him, but 3rd round feels rich.

We have been linked to Lacy so I could see it. He's a "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" type of player. He's 6'4" and around 280 and he looks physically imposing. He shows flashes of absolute dominance and then periods of pedestrian-like just going through the motions. I always fear the player who has the ability to dominate but chooses not to. They did well with Chauncey Golston, who's around the same size and is a tackle/end tweener, so I can see the Jones thinking they know better than everyone else and taking him a round or two too early.

Jake Moody makes a ton of sense.

Clayton Tune is meh for me. I have watched a lot of Houston games and practices live the past 3 years and while Tune is capable of putting up big numbers, he never really wowed me. He very well may just be a product of Dana Holgorsen's system (Graham Harrell, Case Keenum, Brandon Weeden, Geno Smith).

Durrell Johnson is another ultra-athletic, late-bloomer kind of kid. He was a safety convert to linebacker convert to rush end. My experience with players that make that kind of move is that they are extremely athletic but struggle with technique and assignments. While rush end is one of the most athletically dynamic positions, it's also one where there are very few keys to read and doesn’t have a ton of responsibilities. It's get to the Quarterback if the Tackle stands up, engage outside shoulder and hold the edge if the Tackle reaches you, and squeeze the Tackle if he leaves.

Imagine thinking the Chauncey Golston pick really paid off.

That guy's a mess. He shouldn't even watch the draft.

Why? No QB in the history of the NFL loves to throw the ball to tight ends more than Dak. Makes perfect sense.
That was running a different offense than what Big Mike likes to run. Go look at GB when he was head coach, there wasn't much emphasis on the TE's.

Hey, you guys think we can hit on another mid round DL like we did with, ya know, Chauncey Golston?

Not by my standards, this Front Office's standards.

He's played 30 games and about 32% of available defensive stats the last 2 years. Quinn seems high on him.

Miller in the 4th. So you like Isreal better than Miller? Love Isreal, but 1/3 of his TD's were in two games against Rhode Island I think and Las Vegas or something like that. Played a lot of bad competition.
Israel also has fumblitis.

Miller in the 4th would be killer.

Two TE’s? No. One significant starter? Yes.

Jermichael Finley was a consistent producer for quite a while in McCarthy’s offenses, and had established himself as one of the league’s top tight ends before a spinal cord injury led to his retirement. That resulted in Richard Rodgers, a backup at the time, stepping into the role for a time. Later on, Green Bay targeted veterans who fit the mold of what McCarthy was looking for in Jared Cook, Martellus Bennett, and Jimmy Graham.

Why? Why would you be OK with that group?

Neither of whom has shown they can play WR at the NFL level. Year three for Fehoko and the team couldn’t wait to IR him for the year.

The danger of just looking at 40 times and thinking, gee, that guy ran fast he can be our deep threat! LOL.
