If they pick Mayer I’d hope they get aggressive in the 2nd round and try to go after a corner or WR that’s hanging around. Depends on how the board falls I guess.

Love Mayer btw. He’s not a super athlete but he knows how to get open vs every coverage.

You will be in love with Mayer for the next 8 years. Incredible player and leader.
Up until the moment Mayer signs his second contract, then this board will turn on him like a mistreated pit bull.

I do not like this pick, or any TE in the first.

I hope we take a RB and a CB somewhere in a ridiculously deep class. It would be a shame to not grab one when there is value so much cheaper this year. It may be a while before we will see this kind of quality available in R3 and beyond.
Agree. Same for DE.

TCU is my 2nd favorite college team. I seen his entire college career. I would absolutely love Miller in the 4th round.
Do you like him better than Isreal? And what are your feeling on the big WR for TCU. I think he is 2nd round talent.

As we discussed, I like Kincaid a little more, but I am totally fine with Mayer, he is a legitimate talent at the position and would fill a huge need.
So you like TE's that are poor blockers? How does that help our run game we are trying to improve?

Im all about whats best for the Cowboys. Getting a poor blocking TE in the first doesnt help the run game.

I only seen Israel's youtube highlights. Everyone looks like Hall of Famers in highlights. I seen all of Miller's and Q.Johnsons career in full games. I would take Q in the 2nd with no hesitation. I would even take Miller in the 3rd just to make sure we get him.

Why would I care what this board does?

I would be willing to bet you havent even watched film on the kid. Here do yourself a favor and watch this guy.

I can tell a lot from Highlights. Not everyone looks the same. MIller is a stud. So you agree Johnson isnt first round material?

Borderline 1st round.
If I'm looking to add a receiver I'm taking Mayer or Kincaid at 26.

He forces teams to play an extra corner, which makes running the ball easier

Too bad I can't actually get a bet down on that. I spent almost an entire day watching highlights of players. especially the ones who were suggested in some of the top mocks.

I also went position by position and searched the top ten in each. I did a comparison of TE's and Mater has some issues. Can they be corrected in on the big stage? I guess that question brings the idea of why the draft is a crap shoot.

My comment was focusing on how people liked Schultz until he asked for a raise. They will turn and eat their own the nano-second a player wants more money.
Your position on that comment doesn't change the that fact.

What are these issues? I know he gets dinged for not having the ideal athletic profile that people now want in a TE, but what are his other issues that will hold him back?

Mayer and Bradford are starters.

So that would give the Cowboys 4 starters from this draft class when you factor in Cooks and Gilmore.

No. I'm not counting a kicker.
Does that make you a kickerist or kickerot?

He doesn’t have any that are going to hold him back (day 1 starter).. He needs to tighten his blocking and clean up some routes but nothing major the coaches can’t fix. TE’s are rarely finished products when they leave college. He’s as close as you’ll find. Wouldn’t be my first choice but Dallas still hasn’t called for my opinion. It’s a safe pick.

Safe seems like the ideal description for him. Higher floor, lower ceiling than some of the other TEs.
