No, because his scouting report says he's projected as a run-oriented DE in a 3-4, and so far, he's beaten nobody. Not even undrafted free agent Dan Skipper.

He's got a great NFL body, but he's slow and easy to control.

Not sure what scouting reports you were reading (see below) and, again, your making pronouncements off of second-hand reports from his first NFL practice.

For the NFL, Charlton's best fit would come as a base end in a 4-3 defense. He does have the length and athletic ability to standup as a 3-4 outside linebacker. He also could move down and play some 3-4 defensive end in some situations. Charlton is versatile with scheme flexibility. It wouldn't be surprising if he becomes a Pro Bowl defensive end during his rookie contract.

Sorry dude, but that deserves....

He's only been a Cowboy 3 months. Nothing Broaddus says in July will have anything to do with what kind of career he will have.

This.

Give him time to get some valuable coaching from Leon, more reps and some experience, then judge.

No #1 Cowboy DE has ever come in and dominated in his first training camp, D-Ware being the exception. This includes Ellis, Jeffcoat, and yes, even the great Bob Lilly.

[Note: Lilly was moved to DT where he became All-World.]

This is why I struggle to fully get on board with Broaddus.

He said if Smith was healthy, you would have to take him 4th overall. But back during that draft, he was pretty down on Smith, if I recall, saying that even if healthy he wasn't sure he was one of the Top 5 players in the draft. Seems like he's just covering his butt now in case Smith does come back and is back to normal.

Broaddus will own up to it. He destroyed Bosa leading up to draft and now admits he was absolutely wrong about the player. He has also said he hopes to be proven wrong on Dallas taking Smith (very high risk selection) that early (2nd round) in draft. He doesn't always get it right but unlike ALOT of people he does admit when he was wrong.

qb was reaching down for bag and had disc problem, put him on ir, maybe get a game check or 2, settle him
what i saw with asoua, in coverage, liked neal # 66, de, get young guys, woody baron another guy,
then he lined up against tyron
collins had good game chasing things till hip flexor
lenny jones had a couple of nice rushes
on taco, battled dan skipper is one of those guys when unpiling skipper is still blocking
lael collins throat slammed taco
veterans like domontroe know u cant let the OL our super players get their hands on you, so these young players have to learn pass rush moves
tapper has to learn pass rush moves, techniques,
ol are only good when they know how to hold trip and clip but its going to take tapper some time to learn moves, got to get that hand up, foot in ground, when tapper was in college he wasnt taught
jaylon had his moments, but there is going to be some learning there, to make plays its alittle off but he hasnt played in 572 days, but when awareness comes, then they cant wash him in the play
with taco i dont think he can give u anything in pass rush but he can in against the run
but longterm jaylon can help this team, right now i would take jaylon in 4th round, but if he was healthy from notre dame, u have to take him with the 4th pick in 1st round
hillman, san diego did terrible blocking for him, has lateral quickness, change of pace guy, play lateral, got vision to come to back side, got a guy that is scheme fit for what they do, but 50/50 in catch but sometimes rivers threw the ball over his head, this is about they dont have the numbers to practice, guy veteran that can run the football
yeah dont disagree with u, marcus smith cant do anything to help this team, guy phily let go,
andy jones ur hoping their going only to keep 5 wrs, maybe their going to keep more defensive players, and happen to rb situation

dont think no news on zeke till after hall of fame game
Thanks for the post! Good info.

I do not know why people think Bryan Broddus is so knowledgeable. He was and is an average judge of talent. He talks like a know it all but really doesn't know anything. Look at the drafts when he was a scout.

He sometimes got it right. Had to hide fact he was from Dallas when he ran Philly draft and was under alot of pressure. Came out with Tra Thomas LT (all pro) & Jeremiah Trotter MLB (all pro).

Fair post....this is true. He admits when he's wrong

I am going to go out on a limb and state Taco will be fine. In fact, I think he will a good DE and a solid rotation guy his rookie year. He has good measurables, showed continual improvement at Michigan and played against top echelon competition. He is not a "project" - you don't see reports of poor technique or bad attitude or lack of effort. Was he my first choice to draft for Dallas? No, but I don't believe he is a bad choice at all.

Man, I hope he doesn't make me look foolish.
He will
